Got a snag.
I bought a 1430 beauty engine which is perfectly set up with a 45 Weber on a 5" manifold. I'm wondering how I can bodge the binnacle about so it fits. I've seen odd pics of these mods here and there, I wonder if any of you lot have done similar jobs. I'm thinking about moving it back a tad.
If worst comes to worst, I'd rather go Rally Dash than fit a crap air filter/short manifold.
It's a Mk1 Cooper that lost any originality or civilisation long ago.

Is there no way you could make some sort of a stop-gap that would move the binnacle out a bit giving slightly more room for the weber?

Ahhh, bugger. I've just had a remeasure. 6" manifold (150mm). 60mm stacks in an 85mm filter. Carb is 120mm
14" all in. I'll have a closer look. I'm sure people got around it in the old days. There was a Downton racer in an old miniworld. I'll dig it out. I'm sure that had a proper manifold on it.
The engine was one of Peter Baldwins finest and is perfectly set up after years of development.
The mini gets modded around it.

My brother has a similar setup to yours. He has made a dashboard that looks like the old Works Mini Rally Cars, and moved the speedo to the drivers side of the car. Hi carb basically comes out to about the similar position as the normal front of the speedo.
