1275 Engines

can anyone please let me no how to tell the difference between a 1000cc and a 1275cc engine.

1275s have two core plugs under the engine steady bar. The thermostat housing outlet points directly to the front of the car whereas on a 998 it points about 30 degrees toward the radiator. A+ 1275s are red, A+ 998s are yellow.
+ 998s have tappet chest covers on the back, 1275s don't. That's the most obvious way to tell...

Maybe it is but it doesn't apply to all 1275s.

Neither does the core plug idenfication method 'S' engines got only one core plug there too...
And to my knowledge there's no 'intermediate' block.
