Is your dash a Koso jobbie or a copy? Ive got both and not wired the copy up as yet so was wondering if yours is a copy how are you getting on with it?

Mines some Cheapo ebay deal that I won for a fiver. Was badly advertised and the instructions awful. In all honesty it's not great. I've had to take it apart to break a trace on it as I had a light for the fuel gauge that wouldnt go out and there was no corresponding wire for it either!

I have yet to check the Rev counter/speedo out but all the warning lights work well

If you have a good make one use that definatly unless your doing a test like me and get bored with dashes easily

to be honest I've not got my hopes up with this to work well it's more for the looks and it looks awesome :) need to fit the sender for it on something the spins now, not sure what yet, maybe rear drums.

Chris I'm not sure. It was from halfords a while ago and I fitted it myself. It wasn't limo tint, maybe a step down but I can't honestly remember, if you go back though the thread there may be a box it came in on one of the photos. I think in the future I'll redo it all and do the rear and door glass along with it for continuity.

Edit. Just looked back, dark smoke apparantly. And I did them nearly three year ago! How time flies when your busy

Ah right ok cheers man! I've had some 20% stuff sat on my shelf for about 6 months but got it out today and decided its too dark for my liking, so ordered some 50%   :proud:

Yh I can see through mine but not unless I try, 20percent sounds like it's too dark to me

I've fitted my lights :) they look awesome and the outer rings look great too. Just need to paint the rings black and it should look good
20160511_140140.jpg

I'd like to leave the inner rings shiny but the chrome is too far gone to keep unfortunatly

On a uni update it's nearly sorted and I've got the weekend free to crack on and finish the wiring :) I got a loom from a car that's got some good waterproof connectors on it so that should be the front nicely sorted by the weekend hopefully

So people, last update was 11th may :( poor mini has been totally neglected recently unfortunately.

On a positive note I passed my theory and mod1 for my bike license which is awesome even tho I only passed mod one by the skin of my teeth.

I've got a Few bits done last week but I have been so busy recently and kinda disheartened with the car so not exactly rushing out to work on her!

Let's start with the good bits shall we,
Brake lines properly secured
20160520_181602.jpg
Protective sleeving on the more vulnerable lines
20160520_174749.jpg
And refitted
20160520_181633.jpg

The protective sleeving is old 6mm fuel pipe, no use as fuel pipe as it is perished on the outside so I cut it in a spiral and then wound onto the pipes securing it with heat shrink, looks very tidy and will be much safer. It's the same as I have done with the brake lines that run along the front valance near the exhaust accept they are in heat resistant braiding.

Brakes just need refitting correctly at the back and then all bleeding – however please read on!

So if your reader of this thread you'll know of the problems I have with the carbs and how I can't seem to get the fuelling right. My plan was to teach myself to mig aluminium, this is how I have progressed.

20160520_152218.jpg
It's ruddy awful.

I set aside a whole day to try and crack it and I'm at a complete loss :(
I followed the guidelines on migwelding.co.uk and got the new liner, tips, wire etc so set my welder up according to them. And this kept happening
20160520_135129.jpg

I've tried every wire speed and power setting my little mig can manage, the gas etc is correct but even on the fastest wire speed as soon as the wire hits the metal it burns back to the tip causing spaghetti at the rollers.

So I have give up making an aluminium manifold as it's just not going to happen :(

Having had a long think I've come to this conclusion.

>I'm Going to buy a newish 14plate reliable bike preferably with abs for safety. As I'm moving to Norwich in September with my lovely girlfriend she has given me permission to be insured on her car thus giving me access to both my motorbike and her car.
>mini is going to get some throttle bodies and megasquirt injection fueling so my megajolt unit will be up for sale shortly along with the cbr600 carbs (and the spare parts carbs)
>I'm dropping the subframe so I can properly make clearance for the driveshaft gaiter
>new adjustable lower camber arms to get the camber completely equal
>either rebuild the gearbox output bearing or get another box to get rid of that awful rattle at idle
>998 is coming out. I'm going to get the old 1275 over bored for corsa pistions
>A better designed alternator mount the doesn't mount on the timing chain cover, what was I thinking there! So hopefully no more oil leaks also!
>And fix all the other little problems that annoy me so much!

Deadline is December 2017 when I finish uni. It's a big decision for me to make but I can't be spending my time fixing her anymore, not when I'm at uni and the work is only going to get harder. I'm not going to get a garage when I move house so she will have to stay at my parents meaning I will have to do my uni work before I can go home to work on her.

So that's the plan people. Any suggestions or comments feel free to say
Lawrence

I had the same problem when I tried to MIG aluminium. I gave up in the end. I did have some success spot welding it (just to try it). I have TIG at work so it's no longer a problem. TIG for aluminium uses quite a bit of current to start with as you have to burn through the oxide layer and that's after going crazy with the scratch brush. I'm afraid TIG is probably your best bet.

Loving the look of your conversion. How is the bulkhead flex? Mine is still bad even with a six inch square plate bolted to the outside so I'm making a bracket for the inside.

From seeing people trying to aluminium weld with MIG it doesn't go so well...i personally have never tried it but they always revert to back or to TIG, So i wouldnt be to surprised really... Awesome for having ago though...

Cheers for the comments people :) it's sad seeing her sitting on the drive but I know it's for the best after all :)
I think I'll scrap the migging of Ali for s while as it's not gone great and maybe go back to a steel manifold

The bulkhead did flex a lot more prior to making and fitting the strengthener, it's got very minimal flex in it now, probably only about 2mm which I can live with and interior bracing will be difficult to work well.

So I've been doing a bit of shopping :)
20160615_100131.jpg
Megasquirt ecu has been purchased and I've begun familiarising myself with its workings

Nos Throttle bodies with injectors have been bought
20160619_155415.jpg

I've also passed my bike test which is awesome and bought this
20160613_110109.jpg
20160613_110101.jpg

It's a Honda Cb600f :) a nice little bike, perfect for me as my first big bike and has abs for safety which I wanted.

So plans now are to flog the bits of the megajolt that I no longer need and look into making a new manifold that flows better. I'll investigate getting one made in Ali if funds allow or could stick with the old one/make a new steel one :)

So that's all for now. There's going to be less updates whilst I concentrate on my uni work more but I'll put the odd bit up :)

What bike are the throttle bodies from and what size?
I did a bit of research and apparently GSXR600 or 750 are the ones to get for the Micra. 38mm bore with 80mm spacing.

Chap I got them from said they were cbr600 throttle bodies with a 37mm Venturi. They look about that but I haven't actually measured them yet tho. Spacing can easily be adjusted by the runners. My reasoning for going for them is the the current carbs are cbr600s also and that manifold was easy to make. Theoretically these would be the same spacing and size but I shall investigate next week :)
