Good afternoon – Mini pre subframe — ImgBB

Let me summarise with I do still own this car, I do work on her occasionally-

One photo since 2018 is disappointing, I have found a new host today and some time to make a few uploads-

Timeline-

October 2018- July 2019- No real progress- looked for an engine locally-

12sep 2018- New Heater- T7 designs

4^th July 2019

New engine found locally- 1348cc- was only on 30k – lovely inside

old engine still in the bay but stripped to come out

there the problem with the old one! (5^th July)

new one ready to go back in (11^th Aug)

re made engine mount- yup its not the best- more on that later

more exhaust silencers- 29^th aug

and back together running nice

Sep 2019 – what have I done here!

A little more tidy but not the best- ive redone this since

Dash looking tidy

Oct 2019- broke a driveshaft- got a custom one piece one made after this

Dec 19- nice clean for winter

So that’s up to Jan 2020

Feb 2020- new sound deadening to bulkhead

New door cards to match seats

Out on a trip to the city

Looking on whist the coupe gets some love

Oct 2020- new wiring going in- inspiration from project binky

Started making a new steering column cover

Tidy in the inner wing

New front seats

New grippy fronts (march 2021)

Looking respectable

New inlet manifold ready for the dyno run (April 2021)

Earning her new parts- wood for the fence

Subframe needed some clearance making

Nice colour coming through

New alloy rad (May21)

Rad mount being constructed

New steering column- I retrofitted a MPI column so I can finally have a tidier looking interior

Wheel arch cleaned and repainted- June 21

New year shocks- July 21

Then I did not a lot to her between July 2021 and June 2022

New sunvisors, headlining and carbon dash

Near rear subframe mounts and bolts

Genuine OMP steering wheel and digi dash mounted (July 2022)

Doesn’t that look nice

Wiring tidy too, you can spot the DSN door furniture there also

New top tint MPI windscreen and mirror fitted (Aug 2022)

Sep 2022- rear end prepped for pain- it was painted but I cant find a photo

Nov 2022- Engine removed and old subframe chopped into manageable chunks

New subframe- painted in grey

Old one chopped up

More paint

Subframe reinstalled

Frame was needed due to the original one being on the piss- I couldn’t get her tracked up and there was way to much flex when jacked up- overall wasn’t happy so got a custom one made up.

New custom brake lines for the front needing securing

New mounts for the expansion tank added to the bulkhead

Gearstick steady bar added

Welded on mounts to the frame making the lines very secure

Dec 2022- New high pressure fuel lines ran for AN fittings.

Everything getting buttoned together

Photo of the interior when it was completed and tidy

Engine bay tidy

Back together- paint and front end looking rough

Jan 2023- Bled the brakes

Front still looking rough

Brake lines mounted and bracket made to stop lines rubbing on trigger wheel

Jan 23- Sep 23- not much went on, I modified the front panel, contemplated getting a metal bonnet

May 24- Rolled outside for a clean

Front panel being finished off- nice coffee out in the sun

Bar for splitter hard mounted to subframe- works as a tow bar also, front also prepped for paint

Seam sealed wig to scuttle joint

Wrapped up to paint. White rustoleum- rolled on

Aug 2024- Front built back up, splitter and panels now looking smart

She is a little low

Sep 24- Cleaned and put away for the winter

This is how we are now- Snug as a bug

 

To do list-

> Wheel alignment  

>gear linkage bolts fitting

>T7 designs heater. 400/600watt, likely 400 as safer.

>block off holes in bulkhead from old heater.    

>New exhaust

>Fiberglass valance

            >Bond on valance and some stainless brackets to hold on the rear bumper

> Carpet

            >Remove seats and re trim carpet to fit better

>Trim and spray glue inner arch panels and sill/ crossmember parts

            >Dry out floor sound deadening/ remove if needed

            >Paint floor rustoleum grey if needed

>New air filters

>Air filter trumpets

>Steering column - Indicator cancelling

                        >?carbon sleeve with a cutout?

>External seam trims

>New door mirrors

>Make wing liners to protect the rad

            >?or Dibond- aluminium composite sheet

            >Captive nut tabs can be welded to subframe

>DSN

>Boot hinges- black £114

>Sump oil leak

            >Sump bought + sealent + exhaust gasket

            >Bracket for trigger

 

Its nice that I can get in and drive her- dont get me wrong she looks rough- the sides are the worst but shes Mot`d and Insured and fun to drive (

Little update-

 

garage has been tidied- Mini given a wipe down and driven out into the sun- 

 

 

Also ordered new ITB trumpets- been on a to list for a while and new ram air air filters -The current ones are from Jan2015!! so a little overdue a change!

 

The fuel pump whine is alot worse tho so ill add another bosch044 type fuel pump to the list too!

 

She is MOTd till mid sep and when I get back from holiday ill look to book her in for the 4 wheel alignment that is very much needed!

cheers Ryan, at least with your frame I can get her tracked up nice. 
new trumpets fitted for the ITBs, should give some more midrange torque. May need a bonnet scoop tho due to size. Old filters were very grim.
 

also new heater being fitted, photos coming soon, I’ve made nice brackets for it today.
