Well as you all may know im chris and i have an '88 designer which is currently being restored...somehow i managed to lose my existing thread so i'd thought i start another.... (Topics merged for you =) )

JOBS DONE SO FAR:

Floorpanel nearside
Front panel(almost)- nearly a months prep work done-ready to weld on
Bonnet
Bootlid
Engine- Turns over~~just needs a new carb
Rear Offside WheelArch

JOBS NEEDED TO DO:

Get some rot free doors drivers door!
headlight rings
scuttle
drivers doorstep and floor
rear hinge panel
boot floor
Get engine running properly
strip-paint
Finnishing touches

Had it a year (was sat in yard for 6months after i had it) so its going well...

Im going at my own pace with this...so please dont argue with me when i say how long certain things should take me......REMEMBER!! its all in the prep :)
Should hopefully be completed by 2011-2012 :(

Enjoy......

Are you going to be replacing the wings as well chris?

You realise your supposed to weld that seem, on the inside (actually supposed to be spot welds allong the lip), leaving the 'dip' on the outside with an un interupted dipped seam.

Not much progress for a few months mate, wheres the pace!!!!

And to answer your questions burny.... No im not replacing the wings, im going to seam weld along the seam then grind the welds back level and run a thin cutting disc in the seam- as how it was done originally meant that lots of water got trapped in the seam, e.g how they rotted away quickly.

And i know there hasnt been a lot of progress lately as i left miniforum because of situations like this that you have caused because people cannot accept that i only have 2 hours a week on the mini and that i work how i want to work.... hope this answers your question as from now on im pi*sed off with people telling me how to do things on here and i will get mods to delete posts....rant over

Good deal on the door. As for the car....its yours to build anyway you want. As long as its safe and holds together, who cares how its done. There are things that were done in the factory that cannot be done afterwards, so ignor people who say you have to do this or that.
