As the bumpers are the same front and rear I'm sure it could be adapted to fit either end.
The difficult bit will be digging out the 2" of filler that will have been used to try and smooth it off!!

I'm sure you can buy just the bumper lip for the front valance?

Haha exactly.

I just made some fairly light L brackets out of mild steel and painted them. Bolted the brackets to the bumper, held the bumper in the right spot and riveted the brackets to the body.
You would have to be looking pretty close to see that it isnt standard. It is much less likely to be a rust problem as well, as the water can just run down past the bumper like this.
The hardest thing is making sure it is in the right spot, look at lots of photos to see where the bumpers normally are.

wouldnt worry to much about not looking original, how much do you reckon that would cost?
To make it original, you'd be looking at about £400 plus. That's inc panels and paint etc.

Sorry to bump this thread, but I've spotted a MK2 shell that has been fully deseamed, like the rear panel would need replaced and A panels too. Not too bothered about the wings etc as I would be replacing these anyway. However is it a hard job to fully reseam a Mini, not just the bumpers? I want it back to original! Anyone done it?
Hard.
You will require the use of a jig to ensure the body doesn't twist.
I was going to do this, but gave up and scrapped the shell. It's just not worth the cost and effort unless it is a particularly desirable car.

replace the panels and its sorta easy in theory, but would cost a bit

If you want the panel seams back on that run between the windows you wont need to replace all the panels as suggested - you could just weld brackets / tabs on to support the seam strips that normally cover the spot welds.
Only problem is as Shifty said above the deseaming means a coat of filler to smooth out the differences between the two panels and that might mean the seam strips don't follow the body contours correctly.
This assumes it's been deseamed correctly in the 1st place - look for signs of cracking where the body sections would normally join, especially at the back on the part between the rear window and side windows.

Re seaming is a job I've often thought about, its a lot of work though to fully and properly do..
-Windscreen fram
-Door frame x2
-Rear quater panelx2
- Rear end section
-Front wings x2
- A panels x2
You'd still need to fabricate the top part of the rear window seam as well.
Its a lot of work, if you brace it up and are careful then there's probably no need to jig it.
