The photo shows how I fit them, but you may just be using one, as the works team used to, this has the buckle section fixed to the front of the bonnet, the other end is attached to the same part of the front panel as the horn, but a bit nearer the centre, & is pushed out through the top grille slats. Looking at photos of the works cars it seems there was no hard & fast rule as to exactly where they were fitted, some were left of the bonnet catch, some to the right. I've just found this photo of the strap on one of the later Abingdon Minis, looks like an easier way of fitting a single strap.

That one is shown dead centre, but you could use the same method of fixing a bit to the right or left to avoid your bonnet badge if you have one.

i drilled the holes through the bonnet for the top but i used an existing hole for the bottom and clamped in behind my grille if this makes sense

just noticed your bonnet, dont mean to go off topic but does this still have the lip on the front? and is it fibreglass

i did mine like this because i like things neat and tidy
(engine bay getting there slowly lol)
I fitted mine the same way, works well.
