Glad to hear the light is near the end of the tunnel regarding the paintwork. Would of been a shame to see this level of work ruined by a dodgy paintjob. But looks like the level of finish is going to completment it nicely .

The specs you see are the photo and not anything to do with the roof
It should be lacquered by now so with a bit of luck next week i will be collecting him after Scott has forked out a small fortune.
Now for the downer, i was asked to cover the car with plastic to enable me to mask off the roof properly so did that no problem, taped off fine with no issues and on went the primer. In the mean time i was helping the panel beater to rebuild the front end of the Merc we took apart earlier when the sprayer comes up to me and says " the paint is on but the plastic has marked the red paint." Cue a look of total dismay, he then goes on to tell me this has happened before so why tell me to cover the car in plastic instead of using paper .
So i went down to the spray booth to see the car and at first glance you could see nothing but when you look down the car you can see what looks like water marks but the paint is still smooth. Both the sprayer and the panel beater says it will polish out no problem at all but yet again more work for me. Plus after buying a tub of G3 cutting compound and 3M fine cut i'm £50 out of pocket.
This whole painting experience is now taking the yellow stuff big time. I've not got the longest of fuses and now it's really really short. If the roof does not look spot on i'm going to kick off big time.
Totally stressed out and now we have got a viewing on our house at 8pm and my missus is like whirling dervish. I will be glad to go back to work for a rest.

The painter does seem to be neglecting to tell you a few important things though, Eh? I can see a trip up there in the 'Happy Bus' and a dose of the 'Red Button'..

I'd like to add that Neil is known as 'tourettes' at work...

Although you must be gutted with all the mishaps going on, especially as the painter should have the experience to stop the problems from happening??
Id be very annoyed about it, especially as you have to keep on forking out more and more money, the painter doesnt seem to be helping you out much, but charging you for it. Did you have a set price for it? When I had mine sprayed 6 months ago, the guy their set the price, so no matter what mishaps / extra prep work, it'd be the same price.
Good Luck with the final paint, theres nothing like putting a freshly painted Mini together!!

If it were me the scrap man would be in pocket by now as I do not have your loooong fuse !! I am painting mine if I ever get to that stage on the drive, under a gazeebo with an electric spray thingy, now that will test my fuse, lol !!!
Very best of luck with everything,
Graham

I will still have to do the interior and inner boot area myself but i have learnt a lot of tricks from the panel beater chap Ray who is a font of information, it was just a shame he was not here first thing this morning as he would have told me to use paper. Still such is life and at least i can pass this info onto other forum members so they do not get caught out.

Here is some of the areas where we did the sealing before the car was painted.
In the photo above you can just see the effect that my dad was on about yesterday which was caused due to the plastic sheeting. Its towards the top right of the photo that it is visible.
