So now I HAVE OFFICIALLY FINISHED THE WELDING ON ERM
Right now that's cleared up i spent the rest of the day looking over the shell for any small dinks etc so they could be filled, also sanding down all of the other bits of filler skimmed on over the last few days. Some of the remaining original paint is still to be removed but Scott can do that tomorrow after work. Harsh but fair.
Taped up both headlight cut outs for sealing tomorrow and also in the car around the inner arch to bulkhead area.
And to prove a point with regards to treating surface rust, this was the piece of rear windscreen lip i cut out the other day. Although the surface rust did not look bad the underside was a different story
So this goes to show cutting metal out even when it is only lightly corroded on a Mini is probably the best route to go.

I work for Virgin at Gatwick hence the reason why i mentioned SCParts, plus a few of the lads on my shift live in or around Horley. Erm is off to paint this wednesday although the painters have got the doors, bonnet and boot lid.
The official colour scheme will be Tartan Red shade 2 with a gun metal metallic roof just to be different. Scott selected the colours today and the roof colour is actually a Rover shade so keeping it in the family so to speak.
The chap doing the paint work has been in the trade for 50 years so Erm will almost be his swan song as he retires in August. Judging by the MGA and his bosses Austin Healey in the colour scheme below then we should get a cracking finish so fingers crossed.

That will look good. My mates dad used to work at Virgin Gatwick as an aircraft engineer, but got made redundent over a year ago. I think he worked there for like 20 years, you might know him.

and just enjoying the sun
Having the car on a trolley is a godsend so easy to wheel around but tomorrow Erm has got to go on a couple of pallets to be loaded on the trailer.

Did give us a chance to thoroughly clean the garage and throw a lot of old junk away, 2 car loads so at least the garage looks tidy now. We both feel like kids waiting for Christmas to come. Can't wait.
