May i ask why the silver tape is over the sealer ? is it to just stop bit's getting in it ? or is it a chemical reaction thing?

edit spelling :)

Its just to stop bits getting in it as the garage was quite dusty today and already managed to get some bits in the sealeant >_<

Hi,

great work as usual but another question !! You slotted the door frame to make the gap fit but how will that affect the window glass ?? Will it still fit, but I'm sure you have thought about that !!

Yes it will still fit as overall the width has only changed by less than 1/4" which the new seals will take up the slack. If i'm wrong then bugger but i am quietly confident. (this might bite me later but in for a penny in for a pound.)

Scott decided he was going to have the door furniture instead i believe( i could be wrong) hence the reason he has returned them. Paddy will not be having a full rebuild until next year at the earliest as he is road legal and Scott will need a set of wheels to drive once he's passed his test.

No problem. We received the order today for the door handle set. I've dropped an e-mail to Scott to confirm.

Cheers for that, Mmm!! Mk1 fezzer banded steelies, lowered running a hot zetec on throttle bodies with a nice solid colour respray. Much coolness. That almost sounds like a plan ;)

2nd to last bit of welding done today which was the rear windscreen l/h side.
We had treated it but i really did not want it reappearing so it had to go so spot drilled all of the spot welds
Posted Image
Rusty section cut out and the underside treated
Posted Image
Rich zinc primered ready to weld
Posted Image
Repair section rough cut
Posted Image
and repair section cut to size and drilled ready for welding
Posted Image
Welded in place ground down and polished

Ready for a skim of filler tomorrow. The last bit of welding to do is the reinforcement strip on the rear bench then that is it after 18 months of replacement, fabrication and panel beating. The first bits of the car go for paint on Saturday the doors, then the bonnet and boot monday closely followed by the rest of the car later in the week. Looking forward to seeing the finished result.

Happy days ;) :dontgetit: Welding is officially finished.
The rear bench reinforcement strip was the last bit to be welded in

The rest of the day was spent trying to reshape the boot to a better profile and some final tweaks to the r/h door.
Had to bake a cake first before all of this as its Scotts 18th today, he had spent the morning getting beasted by the Royal Marines as part of his induction and preparation for enrolling later this year. Some birthday present that then NOT!!!

Decided to hang on to the doors, bonnet and boot for the weekend to do some final filling tweaking etc then they can all go to paint first thing monday.

Bring on the shiny coat of paint.
