Can you come & do the gaps on mine - they look spot on! Not sure if I have the patience or skill with the welder to get mine quite as perfect as these,

Almost too perfect! Might want to reinforce the hinge plate now so they never sag, and put little signs on the top of each door frame saying "do not lean on me" >_<

Ta for that, maybe a little extra work opportunity, nah bugger that its hard work but it should pay off when its painted. I have just got to teach Scott how to do this, maybe another project another day.

Cheeky!! i'm going to install a counter weight balance system to take up the extra weight and thought about installing 3 gate hinges. That should do it. :xxx: :(

Another day same door, finally sorted the front edge out, strip of filler rod and extra weld to fill the gap
Posted Image
Ground down and refitted mucho better but will need some filler to finish off but that's another job for another day.
Posted Image

Finished fitting the A panel but left with this gap at the top
Posted Image
so 2 small filler pieces later it looks like this
Posted Image
Then it was back to the door and the top of the window frame gap, before
Posted Image
no where near as bad as the other side which i will be tackling a bit later, so made two supports and off with frame
Posted Image
Posted Image
Posted Image
Boosted the frame up by 200 thous and inserted two filler pieces and now a nice even smaller gap
Posted Image
and before anybody says i will run out of window or it wont fit not a problem as there is plenty of window to go up by 200 thous. The other side may be a problem but as i still have the window fitted i will whip the seal out to see exactly how far the window will go.

On a different note Scott bought this little beauty for £85 and its an original not a copy (he says hopefully) certainly with the mileage on it and the patina it has it would appear to be the real deal.

Tomorrows labour of love is to finish the welding on the door frame, cut out some rot on the rear window fwd frame and the rot around the top of the fuel filler hole. Then empty the car of all the bits and pieces ready to spin Erm over on his side. :D Happy days

You are not wrong there but being a fussy bugger reduces the chances of Mr Ferrous Oxide spoiling the nice shiney coat Erm is going to get. :)

2 years i hope not, we are moving next year so Erm has got to be on his wheels plus my missus will go ape if i'm still working on him when we have moved. Scott will be doing more once the car has been painted so that will take some of the pressure off me. Its his car after all but the way things are going it will end up being mine as he's getting another mini as his daily driver. He cannot afford to insure 2 cars so it makes sense for me to have Erm and insure him with me being an old giffer.

Also i will need room to start Project Stealth aka ripping chavs in their Saxo's to bits. A bog stock looking mini even down to pea shooter exhaust and 10" steelies but packing a Pro Mo conversion :ermm:  . Cannot wait. :) :)
