Does anyone here know if there exists 12" steel rims, on which you can put hubcaps, that will fit a mini over Metro turbo 4-pot calipers? Preferably they should be 5 or 6" wide but the width can always be modified. I'm after 12" rims with a nice retro-look. Something like the rims in the picture:

To fit hubcaps to 12" steel wheels you need to have three tabs welded onto the wheels, similar to the 10" steel wheels to hold on the hubcaps. Also im fairly sure if you do that most hubcaps of that style will fit aslong as they are for 12" wheels such as the hillman imp.

I seem to remember some 12" wheels come with these tabs on - Infact I've just removed them from a wheel off my car that had the standard 80's plastic trim on - underneath the trim the three tabs were there, they just push in

Hillman Imp wheels & hubcaps >_< They'r almost identical to the Mini's 12" std. steels. But they have 3 lugs for a hub cap.

But they are - like the Mini wheels - only a mere 4.5" wide. Maybe you could get them banded.

The following pictures show Mini steel which have been banded to 5.5 or 6" and Austin Healey hubcaps of some sort. No tabs have been welded on, but screwed.

Thanks a lot for the pictures! These rims look realy nice! Is it in fact the Hillman wheels that are fitted to the mini-van in the pictures? Do the Hillman rims have 4x4" bolt-pattern as standard? The Hillman Imp was never sold here in Sweden but i suppose they should be fairly available in the UK. Thanks again!

No, the Van got banded/widened Mini wheels with added lugs to hold a hubcap.

But the Imp wheels are the same, except a few minor differences like lugs for hubcaps as std. And yes, Imps had a 4x4" PCD too! But as far as I know the Imp wheels have a different offset (RWD).

I think your best bet is to get some Mini steel wheels widened. And attach some lugs for hubcaps (be it welded or screwed on). The Imp/LS wheels are quite rare, thought. Only ever seen a few sets for sale during the years. Whereas the Mini wheels are anything but rare...

Cheers,
Jan

I made a thread on this and asked basically the same question, and someone replied that early morris minor hubcaps fit.

Don't know if this info is of any help at all.

I found it out myself. It is not that kind of hubcaps that will fit. It should apparently be the smooth ones without the "M".
