Hi all - Love it or hate it, I am thinking of repainting my Mini Lotus burnt orange with a black ( or carbon fibe ? ) roof and matching CF stripes or black depending on roof colour.
Mini In question is a 1993 Cooper, already quite rare in Australia so I may well sell this one as much as i hate too and start again on a late 80s Mayfair as there a quite a few for sale at
fair prices. Prices you would all think silly but hey, its all about supply and demand right. There are only a few hundred Rovers minis in oz.

So, If you have an orange Mini, i would love to see pix.... Here are a few of mine. ( EDIT: cant seem to upload them but you all know what a BRG Rover looks like ) Shes rust free and awaiting 12x6 Superlights with semi slick Yokos in shipping.

Whats peeps opinions on just stripping this one and doing a bear shell respray ? All opinions welcomed but you can tell i`m a little reluctant to mess with it....

Cheers all
Garth

One question, the mini of yours, is it a sportspack? or is it a normal cooper, with the smaller arches?

Personally, i'd be keeping it as standard as possible, mind you, this is your car and by the sounds of it, you're planning on modifying it. so... here goes...

What about taking inspiration from John "smokey" rhodes? He raced a mini to victory in the british saloon cars championships, the car being BRG with white stripes, and his number slapped on the bonnet. The car was a mk1 though, so the mods for your car would be:

White stripes (if it doesn't have them already)
Arches in body colour
Number (in circle) on the bonnet (any number you like, just as long as it's crossed out on the road for legal reasons)
Mk1 grille (either will do, but the morris cooper grille tends to look good on converted cars)
Mk1 bootlid with drop down numberplate mounting
some classic style seats
downton badges (engine, bonnett, boot wherever you can put them!)

and that's all I can come up with at the moment...
hope this helps :proud:

Thanks for the Feedback - Actually, My Mini has nearly all that already lol. Works arches BRG / white stripes etc. As Mark 5 onwards are very rare here i want to avoid doing the retro thing thats so popular in the UK.

Cheers
