we have got a 1979 mini 1100 special, we have spent a lot of time and money getting this car back to original condition, it now has all of its original factory fit features plus some additions that someone had added during its 30 year life such as kangol rear belts and funky (but naff sounding) rear shelf speakers, when we bought the car it still had (and still has) the original unipart radio!!.... :D

Hi guys,

I've got 95 rover Sidewalk and bought it when it was sorned, no mot, nothing. Pretty much based on the awesome loud interior and the fact it had low mileage! Originally thinking of a project but I didn't really know that it was an LE until I read up about it and couldn't bring myself to alter it. considering how many would have been ripped apart then how many have been crashed makes you think how many left are actually in original condition or a position to be put back to original. Friends and family constantly barage me with "when are you going to get rid of the interior and put a 2litre engine in" Forcing myself not to poke them in the eye! I explain how I like it and I am happy with how it performs who wants to be paying the ridiculous fuel for a massive lump anyway. stick with my 1275spi thanks. The only thing I had to change was her steelie shoes for some nicer black and chrome supalites to compliment her white body. this can easily be changed back as still have original wheels with loads or tread left. I was starting to doubt my plan on keeping her all original except the wheels until I read this thread. knowing that loads of others are in the same boat makes it all worth it. I've got some rust to sort now but otherwise solid. Cheers everyone for sharing and quick pic of Megan below. Ironically infront of my sidewalk is the new sidewalk owned by my neighbour!

Thanks

Matt

P.s. be tidying the arches up as previous owner was a bit hit n miss with the polish! lol

Hi,
I've got a completely standard Jet Black which I bought in October. Its great to hear that so many have been saved but it will never be enough :(. However, being only 14 it will not be used for a few years but we take her to shows when we can. I've had a couple of results and always drive there. I cannot stand it when a car is trailered everywhere. The car was built to be used as a car, but that shouldn't mean that so many people decide that they either use the car and let it rust and get dirty or trailer it everywhere and keep it clean. Well anyway there's my opinion. Its such a shame that so many were modified I know it is the case with the Jet Black and am sure it is happening with every limited edition. :(

I have a Jet Black just about to be fully restored. is fairly standard but for the engine and stightly uprated brakes. Everything thats been taken off is in storage so that it can be returned to original if i ever have to sell. That aint going to happen though. Trying to get some panels for pickup trying to find a rear load bed floor. anyone know where i can get one?

hi, I agree, it's a shame that so many limited editions are being modified beyond recognition. I have a 1989 Austin Rover mini 30 in original condition except from the 50TH anniversary wheels and stainless steel wipers (the wipers are yet to be added). I wanted to restore a limited edition back to original condition as there aren't many left and the thirty seemed to be the best with its half leather interior and speakers on the back shelf. I think that if some one wants to heavily modify a mini it should be done to a model with larger numbers remaining (e.g. City or Mayfair). But I don't really like massive modifications as they are difficult to get looking right but at the end of the day it's your car and you can do what you wish.

Enjoyed reading through this and seeing peoples LE's so adding our two, although not sure whether they are classed as Limited Editions or Special Editions, if anyone else has one of these cars pleaseeeeee let me know.... I'm feeling mini lonely

Max is a 1997 Grand Prix one of thirty five made....hes class, great to drive smoother and slicker than any other mini I've owned, stunning interior, full webasto roof, my favourite Rover mini

Paddy is technically rarer hes a JCG car the John Cooper Le S Works one of only 25 made, hes a thug, such fun to drive, red leather interior chrome dash, hes the one we fight to drive on the back roads

If anyone has any 'bumff' about either of these cars let me know, I'm trying to collect magazine features, old sales brochures, anything to do with them....Cheers

I have a 1984 Sprite Ltd Edition. Trying to keep it as original as possible with just a few small alterations.

a bloke in our club just chopped up a "green british open classic" to make a trailer, clamed it was too far gone but then show'd before pic's :ohno: ... made me phisicaly sick to see what was done :X

if somewanted to add a couple of extra's to a ltd ed i wouldn't mind but even if someone bought 1 that was sprayed a different colour it could be hard to reverse because some colours are hard matched again... i think its funny though when i'm talking to some people who have a limited, when they bring you out to see it your left looking around because there's nothing there to resemble its humble beginnings... some people are honestly chuffed with their LE etc although there are plenty of later city's they could have done the very same thing to and put out the word of a limited needing saving...

its each to their own but i think its the lack of extra value they have for them which i think is a shame.
my 91 mayfare came with clean mary quant seats that i ofter thought of advertising very cheaply but only to people wanting to bring back an 88 designer to origional but their too desirable to go to the wrong hands which is the only thing stopping me so far :goaway:
