RC40's aren't made in 1 7/8" you might be measuring the flange...

Mine is stamped '1 7/8" ' on the side just by the rear silencer. I measused the 3-into-1 manifold pipes today and they are 1.5" going into a 1 7/8" straight through pipe.

QUOTE
Is a 1 7/8" classed as big bore and will this set up be OK for my 998?

No, it's perfect for a small bore.

That is good to know. I just need the time to be able to swap it over now.

I'll wait until i get the car as i dont think anything has been done to it engine/exhaust wise..

Then i'll get some pics up of what i can see and my exhaust then someone can recomend some stuff!

Are the original manifolds cast?

Are all manifolds the same fitting?

As in one for a 1300cc will it fit a 998cc?

Come from the world of the peugeot 106 and i know very little about mini's at the moment! :)

not sure about that...but would probably be better to buy a stage 1 kit for a 998 because that way it should be a straight forward fit.
an inlet for a 1300 (well 1275) will possibly have larger sized inlets than the 998.

But as far as i can see the stage one kit come with a centre pipe and back box right? Yes? :)

i've already got both of them off ebay.. So i 'think' i only need to remaining parts..

if youve got centre pipe and back box you will need the manifold and the downpipe...exhaust manifold..cooper ones are meant to be good.
however wait for other opinions on that..
tiredness = mistakes with me lol

need to elaborate on that abit mate..what mini you got is it standard? what engine is in it?

but the obvs answer is yes you will be able to fit any stage 1 kit..although some may be a little more annoying than others..m1tch had problems with his minisport one recently.
your best bet is to go for the minispares stage 1 kit.

yep should be able to fit any stage 1 kit but would recommend the minispares one as i think most people who have stage 1s have the minispares (i think could be wrong)
mine came with a minisport setup on it which works perfectly...but i suppose it all boils down to the price.
