The lead separators are just to keep things tidy. Good for if you pull them off, you dont confuse which one goes where, but more for looks.

Hi 'm a late comer but am very interested in what you did. I am changing my colour on my mini to what we call Tangerine but it appears to ber the same colour as yours. When I bought mine it had a1100 race engine with a 300 degree race cam in it but the tappets were noisy so I took off the tappet cover and found the gap on number 1 inlet valve to be about 25mm or 1 inch! so I decided to take the engine out but the hoist jammed and then the gantry came apart so it took me awhile to rebuild before I could think of putting in another engine which I'm in the process of doing now. I have a Basil Green stage 1. so am quite interested to see what it does.Just for info Basil green built the "Perana" Fords back in the '70's.
