I got away with welding up the edges, to be honest the door skin fit was actually pretty good, quite impressed.

(I wonder if I'll ever get the chance to compare the fit of a pattern door skin to a genuine one???)

I did get a bit carried away and *rec of the tum* with the door gaps :)

Thanks for vote of confidence, means lot coming from someone who's achieved what you have with Ratty :(

I'm looking forward to getting on with James, make a change not to work on a pink car!!

And thanks to everyone else for their comments as well, I really appreciate them all. :P

No pictures sorry, so you'll just have to use your imagination!!

All the filling work is completed now, its 95% prepped.

Just got to wire brush off the surface rust, give the shell a lick over with the DA and its done!!

Then clean out the garage and lay some primer on it!!

Man, i'm looking forward to that!!

Watch this space!!

Right well, I've been busy(again!!)

Dots WILL be going to Roofless for paint this weekend so I've been pulling my finger out!!

So.......

Played with passengers side door to get the gaps spot on

Had to go a bit of welding and grinding but the results were worth it!!

There was a little rust hole in the roof..

Posted Image

Which I promptly turned into a BIGGER hole!!!

Posted Image

And then welded up and ground down!!

Posted Image

Pleased with that as well, bit of a filler skim and you won't know its there!!

I've also welded up the other speaker hole, and started to prepare it for priming.

By the weekend it will have

- Etch prime

- Bar coat

- 2 coats High build primer.

Then its just a quick seam seal and Roofless can have it!!

Watch this space!!

Hi Shifty

I found the welding on the door edges is a right pain but the end results are more than worth it. Did you put metal in or just build up the weld?

Looking forward to seeing the painted version.

Cheers

Steve

Steve, I built up the weld, it wasn't bad enough to warrent more metal.

I did say it would be in primer tonight.....................and...................................I'll let the pics do the talking.

Actually I should just point out that this is just the etch primer going on, hence the slightly patchy coverage.
