Solex Carb On 998

i have a set of solex carbs and was wondering if i could fit one on my mini :rolleyes:

What are the Solex carbs off of? Are they Porsche parts?

not sure they were in the shed when i moved in, they have Chinese or japanese writing on :(

wiki says they were a french carb and were used on many EU cars such as VWs, mercs, bmws, porshes

i have a downdraft solex on the series one landy. Yes they are french.. but all in all quite well made.

Had one in my old 106 1.4 xs, that carb was fitted to the old ax gt too.

The reason I wanted to know what they are off of is that they appear to be side-draft carbs. The only Solex carbs I've worked on before were single-barrel down-draft types as used on air cooled VWs and 1960s BMWs.

thanks for all the info but i can fit one on my mini 998cc? as the butterfly on them is not as big as on weber dcoe's! so im thinking they wont choke it up :)
