Looking to relocate my washer bottle to the boot. I know i need to obviously extend the wires for the motor and extend the tubing, my question is where can i route the wiring and tubing so that it wont get sqashed and what not? Could i run it on the underside of the car?
Cheers
Did this on my Mini years ago, I ran the tube up through the A pillar on the RHS of the car, same route as the wiring taken on the LHS. That way it culdn't get damaged squashed etc... Means taking some headlining down but tidy once done. Not sure how it was done on the MPi mini's
I ran into 2 issues, firstly you need a good non return valve or the tube drains out meaning a long wait before the washers re-fill and secondly in winter it used to freeze and take ages to thaw...

Yes one of my main concerns was where to route the pipe without it getting squashed. Sounds like youe done it well but i dont fancy taking some of the headlining down to do it

Just make sure to mount the pump low ... unlike me.

Might be simpler to get a smaller bottle and a off the shelf pump and keep them under the bonnet. I got an older bottle, holds 500ml odd and an off the shelf pump.
Just make sure to mount the pump low ... unlike me.
I thought about this but would like to keep the engine bay abit clearer and cleaner looking and i like the idea of it being in the boot. Will have to check it out today and see what i can come up with.

my old spi is in the boot, on the wheel arch, tube goes up in the roof, with valve by the pump motor.

Have you looked into the earlier bottles that clip onto the bulkhead, you could get one of them as it's much easier to hide away, (maybe on the LHS inner wing, tucked up near the aerial...

I'm assuming you have the standard jobby with the bottle on the inner wing.

Hi dave
I actually found the bracket where it should sit yesterday on the left of the brake servo. I couldnt see anyway of getting it to fit, i took the servo out and theres just no way it would fit. Even if i got it in there on the bracket you could never fill it up because the cap sits under the scuttle. Now you've said that under the wingbuisness im going to look into it, only problem is my mini will be running 13's soon and low so not sure if there will be enough space?

Take a look at some of the flip-front conversions and where they put the bottle, there's quite a lot of space up there that could be used, but may make it awkward to fill, maybe put it radiator side, with a filler pipe coming through the slats in the wing to top up right next to, or behind the radiator cap?
I mentioned the earlier ones, that have seperate pumps, as in this case you can use a removable bottle to carry to the sink to fill up, and then hide the pump in the corner behind the wiper motor.
