well, it's been a disappionting week, nothing much to report.

remember a while ago when i said the building i work in floods? well guess what, it's done nothing but rain all week and now look:

that's not even as deep as it's been. you can see the water line on the side of the tyres where it's been! well, i thought, i'm not working in that! my dad had a little water pump that did actually remove a lot of the water after 2 hours but by this time i had had enough so i went home lol

on a brighter note my new panels have turned up from minispares. i have a new door step, inner sill, inner flitch repair and a genuine A panel for the O/S. i did make a start today by cutting a brace bar for the door ready for when i start cutting the rot out.

apparently the weather is going to be good tomorrow but i'm racing instead :D maybe i can actually get something done next week eh.

finally a substantial update :P

i've been busy for the past 3 days working on that terrible sill. that means i have lots of photos!

Posted Image

i started by removing the old flitch panel. there were 2 repair panels welded on top of the original panel!

Removed the old door step.

then i removed the door hinge stiffener panel which also had a repair panel welded over the top of it :dontgetit: underneath there was a bit more rust so i cut it out and welding in some pieces.

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

chopped out the old inner sill panel and welded in a new one.

this is how it looks so far with new inner sill and door step welded in place. finsihed with grey oxide primer which is great stuff compared to spray primer. sorry about the rubbish quality. it went dark at 4 and i had just finished for the day. i'll take some better pics next time.

my new door hinge stiffener panel is on it's way from minispares and should be with me soon and hopefully welded in by my next update. once that's in i can then weld the flitch and sill panel in place. it's all starting to come together now. still a looonngggg way to go till it's all finished though >_<

Nice work mate.

Your poor grinder must be worn out!

Keep up the good work.

Have you got a completion date in mind?

few little updates

haven't got much done this week thanks to the wonderful british weather and having to work on my other car for its mot. at least the building wasn't as flooded as it has been up north this week >_<

however, i did manage to get one days work in and fitted the new door stiffener panel and flitch welded in place. also gave the whole underside a paint with grey oxide primer.

All the dampness from the water can't be doing the shell any good >_< still if you ever get fed up of the mini you could flood the whole place & add some goldfish, best castle any goldfish would ever get >_<

good point, that's why i try and keep the rust at bay by painting any bare metal. yes, the flooding is bad but i don't have anywhere else that's dry to put it >_<

it's been a while since my last post. i had 2 weeks of nothing thanks to an mot on my other car. it failed 4 times due to rust :) got it passed last thursday so i've had 3 days to get on with the mini. the underside is pretty much done now, just some seam sealer and paint to go on and it's done, then i can concentrate on the inside and front end a little more. anyway, enough chat here's some pictures!

Great work mate - you will have a very sound shell as a base soon. It is amazing how much rust is hidden away in there. It is good to see the job being done properly instead of bodging it back together like the previous repair jobs.

Well, it's been almost a month since my last update. i got a few small bits done the day before i went on holiday and then that was it for 2 weeks. got back last week and have continued work on the mini regardless of all the cold and snow.
