Hi guys, I posted a few days ago regarding some nice black rubbish coming out the exhaust lol today I started the mini up and there was a bit of blue smoke on startup and then for about 30 seconds afterwards. Im guessing blue means burning oil - white being headgasket.
Anyhow, my mini overheated about a week ago (It seems ok with no loss of power or damage) could this perhaps be ultra thin oil seaping into the exhaust when it was really hot and this is now burning off?

blue smoke is oil in the exhaust.
If it continues to do it I'd get a bit worried, could be, (among other things);
- headgasket, (oil way to cylinder),
- valve stem seals, (may have hardened broken down due to overheating),
- blocked breather, or high blow-by,

I will keep an eye on it, its the first time that its happened, yesterday it got rid of all the rubbish out the exhaust and today it obviously burnt off some oil lol if it does it tomorrow I will worry, although its not whilst im driving, just on startup/30seconds of pulling away so not all the time

i recon when it only smokes on statup its the stem seals, found this out on my golf when it burnt oil on startup, new stem seals fixed it. usually when piston rings go its a constant smoking
. only in my experience anyway. thats what ive been told.

when i striped my 1275 for re-build to 1380, i was getting blue smoke on start up, turned to be the valve guides worn.

Based on your description I'm with Rick, valve stem seals.
It is a head rebuild, yes, essentially head off, rockers off, valve springs off, replace seals, and rebuild.
But then while it's apart you may as well give the combustion chambers a decoke, and relap the valves.

This is an old post.
There are Stem Seals for the Valves.
