Hi, I own a '99 Mini Cooper Sport, which I run as a second car.
Can anyone recommend a strong battery, as it's often left unused
for a week or two, and the standard alarm etc, seems to drain the
current battery quickly. Thanks all.

anything thats bigger than the current one will be better. typical ones used are 063, and 075 batteries (most places recognise these numbers, even halfords!) sometimes those numbers might be prefixed with some letters, i.e. a halfords battery might be HB063. Also resonably cheap, and easy to get as a lot of cars use those. I have an 063, and ive not used the mini for about 6 weeks - it fired up first time today.

alternatively if you have lots of money to burn, is to get hold of an Optima Yellow or Red top battery, but these can be a few hundred pounds, they are extrememly powerful, designed to run huge stereo systems so have a very long life compared to a normal battery.

I believe there is a Pug ( possibly from a 306 TD ? ) which is a recommended upgrade, but in reality, if you're going to be leaving your car for an extended period of time, it's just as easy to disconnect the battery... or you can get solar powered trickle chargers which will keep it topped up cheap enough...
