ok, had a look tonight, all cables are ok and un-chafed. The alarm ECU is fine and working well. The short seems to come from the main power large plug with brown wires. Until my dad turns up with his meter we can't test which may be throwing more juice out than the others. I couldn't find the inline fuses at all behind the air box, all I could find was the cabling in trunking...are the fuses in this? if so it'll take a good while to strip back as I can't get my hands in there easily.
The other thing that crossed my mind was the coil...could this possibly cause a short in the relay pack?
Thanks again for the help, we'll find the problem eventually.
