its not as hard as it seams especially when its aluminium like these bits are but it is a bit labour intensive

first i went over everything with a wire wheel in the drill then i went over everything with 80 grit sand paper then 120, 240, 400 and finally 600 wet and dry then some polish (i think this is available in the uk but probably brasso or something similar would work) and a polishing wheel in the drill on full speed to build up some heat as it was working and hey presto

i started off with the 80 grit paper so that i could clean up the surface and take away anything i didn't want there see the before and after pics below

here i took a file and the 80 grit paper and took away the casting marks off and left it smooth

this is the polish and the polishing wheel i used

wow shiny!

that guide is awesome. i was thinking it must have taken ages to do that one part, then right at the end the entire engine bay is shiny! far too much time on his hands :P

I think I've found out what i'm doing all weekend now too!

its nice to know im not the only one with a obsesion with polishing my mates always laugh at me as im always cleaning every little part before it goes back on (im even thinking about removing my engine to clean it again as its been fitted since xmas and now looks dirty), but that polishing even puts my work to shame good job mate
