I would say mounts of some type - subframe, engine mount, engine steady, rod gear change mount... does the car knock when setting off quick from the lights etc? One quick test - handbrake hard on, grab hold of rocker cover and try shoving the engine back and forth while kneeling infront of the car, if movement can be seen, then suggests stabiliser bushes/engine mount. Perhaps the knock could even be heard by doing this. Otherwise, while on the ramp, trygently prying the subframe away from the body, if excessive movement here, then subframe mounts gone - dont forget the top tower mounts.

Ryan.

check to see if your back seat is securely fitted, may sound stupid but there was an annoying knocking noise in my car
which turned out to be the back seat lol

brake dust shields???

I'll second that!

Exhaust silencer box hitting seat belt stalk bolt under the tunnel? Although this is usually when accelerating and decelerating.

if it is one single clonk, each time u speed up and slow down it will be some kind of engine steady or mount,
most likly the bottom subframe mount rubber sandwich has split and is letting the subframe pivot forward and back when changing speed. replace them with solid ones? some times there quite hard to tell if there gone as the spring back together and you cant see the cracks

i have a knocking sound in my mini... can only be heard when driving slowly though, i never heard it when out and about on the road, it's normally just when im reversing off the drive way onto the road... im sure it's coming from the back.

Where would i find the tower mounts? Im new to mini's so still finding my way around the car!

Cheers
Stu
