i am looking at putting some sound insulation on the interior side of the firewall to reduce the engine noise (wich is very loud). i will be fitting a centre speedo so i will have the dash and bits out anyway, so i though i might as well put some insulation in. i already have the felt stuff on the engine side of the firewall, but it didnt do much!.

this stuff looks quite good,
Ebay linky

let me know what you think?

oh they also do some form of sound deadening paint.... any good?

Dynamat is ok, but probably halfords is cheaper.
I wouldnt use the bitumen sound deadening paint, not worth at all.
Its like the soundproof goop you have on the floors, weights a lot and isnt so good for sound insulation..

I've just had a look at the halfords one as I want to mat my car too. It is more expensive than the stuff you found on ebay! A 32"x18" piece is £24.99 as opposed to the 10' by 12" roll on ebay for £17.95 (+p&p).

I would have thought they would be fairly similar. I definately won't be using the paint on stuff. The matting is much better.

how much sound insulation would be needed for the floor of a mini saloon?

Personally i would avoid the sludge as somewhere along the line you are only gonna have spend days hacking it away again!

Ya shud do mate.one of the guys who run the local club used it,when u knock the shell it sounds absolutely sollid compared to an ordinary one!lolI would say use the flash band on the inside right up the toe boards and get the original sound proofing mat for the bulkhead under the bonnet, good luck
