So my attention has been diverted a bit from the Minis lately. This little baby is one of the reasons. It's a 1978 Sprite Alpine 4 berth caravan. Owned by my father in law for the last 29 years. It has been well maintained, but had been starting to show some signs of ageing. A few dents here and there, rough around the edges, mega out of date scabby curtains, so ready for a freshen up.
So Robert (father in law) is the man for the chassis, wiring & general jobs, Heather (wife) is on soft furnishings, Alieen (Mother in law) is on refreshment duty, & Kyle is on getting under feet duty!
So, here are some pics which tell the bodywork story...
Early on, the prep starts
Bit of a challenge this one, getting the profile on these 'ribs' was a bit tedious - the 'let's pull the dent out with a screw didn't work by the way!
Masked up ready for the paint...
On it goes...
Fast forward to top coat
I should be able to get some more pics soon, but that's it fpor the mo. Just got to get the towbar & electrics onto the Rover, and we'll be all set for our summer hols!

Nice work mate looks fab
And that poor ford cortina getting all that dust on it, any more pics of it, as i really like the old ford cortina's and granada's, at one point they were the only cars my dad would drive, pretty much bullet proof to.

Thanks for the positive comments guys

Yip, my father in law is the second owner of the car, previously owned by some high flying Ford Director. It's a 2.0 Ghia with about 70/80k on the clock. Once I'm done with the caravan and the Metro, the Cortina will be up for some work to get it up to a decent standard - a sympathetic resto.

Not sure, to be honest - caravans are pretty popular right now, and once its finished, probably around a grand or so, but spending probably around the £400 to £500 mark at the mo - worth it though...

Aye, this one pretty solid still, just needs a bit of welding and some new paint, mechanically it is spot on - by the way, we put a dust sheet on it.
I'll get some piccies of the Ford next time I'm down at the caravan...

Got some more pics of the caravan with more progress, some of the Cortina as promissed, and I fitted a towbar to my Rover, so one of that too...
This is the completed repair of the 'ribbed' panel
So the Cortina - I'll start a thread on this when we get stasrted on it, but tons of things to do before that...
Rover towbar job
Hope you like...
