The doors are now fitted.... We had some problems fitting the drivers side door because at some point the vans been an accident and pushed around the 'B' pillar, in a few mm.
After hammering, banging etc we decided to cut down the edge of the door gap so we could pull the quarter pannel out slightly to match the door.. abit of welding , grinding and heres the result.

Amazing build mate, so good to see it being done to a van!
The mirrors are stunning, have been looking for something similar,
if you dont mind where did you get them from?

Cheers

Top welding skills, especially on an outside corner.

Keep up the good work.

Hi all

an overdue update............

We've finally got the flip front secured now

We used some Dzus fasteners down the A panels, and to secure the front we used ( one of dads better ideas  ) an 8mm 3/8 drive socket and a cut down 3/8 drive extension bar on each side.

The aluminium tear drops came as part of the front hinge kit, these were cut down to suit and the 8mm socket pressed in.

The extension bar was cut down and welded to some plate then tiger sealed to the front. when its stripped down for paint ill put some carbon fiber cloth over the plate to neaten it up...

The rear arches are nearly ready to be fitted so ill post pics as soon as there on.

I`ve ordered a 4.0 final drive and needle bearing from club rsx ( on back order ) and an F1 Racing stage 3 clutch and lightened flywheel which has arrived ( have one on my B18c4 track car which is coping with harsh launches )

Ive not been enjoying this part of the build my enthusiasm has been low but ordering shiney new bits is helping to get it back...

Hi all

A small update of the last 4 months.

July was spent doing some bodywork getting it ready to fit the arches.

I spent most of august not working on the van while i chased rust around my discovery ready for its M.O.T.

The first day back on the van was to fit the arches but in trying to hurry up and get it back on wheels the van slipped off the jack. :(
resulting in me having to re-do the rear valance and closing plate.

all fixed

After sorting the mishap out i fitted the arches

( tape was used while the brackets were bonded on )

Ive also decided to have an external fuel filler so i dont have to keep lifting the front to fill up.

Some new parts have arrived too

Sump baffle

4.052 final drive

Stage 3 clutch and lightened flywheel

Im currently stripping the van back to a bare shell, doing all the last bits of welding etc and getting it ready for paint.

Only the front subframe and rear cage are left to remove now, hopefully in the next week or so they will be out and then get ready to take it to the paint shop.

cheers

chris
