Thanks!, yeah it rained for our whole holiday, would have been walking usually, but decided on some... spirited.. driving instead. even let the ladyfriend have a go!

cheers, I'd really like a set of the riveted letter plastic and aluminium ones but they were a little pricey, so I just made some crappy ones at work, some advantages of working at halfords!

to be honest, Ive just kind of been using it, I got a mustache for the front, but other than that its pretty much the same, few minor technical hitches, alternator went, fuel line split, but other than that, its a reliable daily drive

time for a little update:

 

here's how it looks now (apart from a mk1 cooper badge on the bonnet):

 

 

and I'm planning on a new engine (a 1098) over the summer, as well as a complete new interior (cobra classics), so should look a little different soon.

right, Ive spent the last three days inhaling six cans of spray glue, all in the name of my nice new (hopefully) soundproof interior.

 

so, old interior, homemade carpets from house offcuts  :

 

 

it was alright, but starting to get a bit tired, and a replacement from newton com was in order, but first, sound proofing:

 

bare:

 

a layer of roofing flashing tape to stop vibrations:

 

 

then a layer of closed cell foam meant for wooden floor underlay:

 

then some soundproof felt:

 

then the underlay I had under my original carpet, plus the slightly pathetic stuff the carpet comes with:

 

and at last the carpet, didn't fit brilliantly, mainly I suspect because I'd made the floor so much thicker, (look at how sunken the seat locking brackets are now...)

 

and finally the seats!

 

dash all back together:

 

spent glue cans...

 

I'm pretty pleased with it, Ive got a light grey headlining to go in when ive got time, to replace the ruined cream one that I currently have, should make a big difference

I haven't noticed any major problems yet, but I am aware that it's one huge sponge, fortunately the flashing tape and the closed cell foam are waterproof, so moisture shouldn't be sitting against the metal at least. it did move the cluch bite point quite a lot though, the floor being an inch or so thicker now

there was a noticeable difference, though it did coincide with me welding up the huge crack in the exhaust manifold, so that might have helped!, i havent done the headling yet, so that should help a bit more too. it was slow enough anyway! not sure id notice a few extra kilos!
