i am using a HIF38 with a drilled HS4 air filter housing, and it fits perfectly.........

So - which air filter housing did the 'HIF38 1275s' get then? :)

Thanks heaps, guys! :) :ermm: - all questions awnsered! :)

Interesting to see that it has the blanked heater take off on the head, but a temp. sensor. That's a new one to me :)

Oh - one more question: the air filter housing. I guess it's the same as the 998 one? :P

the heater circuit supply and return from the thermostat, as the correct sandwich plates are hard to get hold of these days i was told i could drill the hole out and use the late carb 998 spec hose (or a modified heater hose) with one of the direct outlets (the one without the tap in it) and run the hose over to the location of where the hose cme off the sandwich plate. i was also told that having the heater take off this side would help with heat diserpation (sp?) accross the head.
