Progress! alternator mount is done (not the tensioner part yet). I didnt want to use the allspeed method because... its garbage IMO! mine broke all the time and its not in a nice position.

it was dark when i took the pictures, so sorry for the blurryness!

mount looks like this:

just tig welded what i fabbed up onto the side of the front engine mount, lots of jigging and measuring and got it straight.

pictures make the car look awful! just was icey and mank, need a tidy up and to add some paint on the side of the block and its a winner. Now the task is to sort out the top alternator mount / tensioner, and the wiring of it.

getting there! sort out the lambda and finish the mount and thats it! then i have to think of the next engine :D

Finally got some more work done on the car today! decided to try and finish the mount. I decided to have the tensioner off the same mount, and after lots of sawing, swearing and tig welding... got it finished. Just waiting for paint to dry now.

The tensioner comes off the threaded bar and onto the top of the alternator, and is a standard OEM daihatsu part, good old japs :D

Tomorrow once its dry i shall update again with it on the car, wired in if i have time!

Well got some more done today :D got a final coat of paint on the engine mount come alternator mount. Then trial fitted it and found it JUST cleared the pressure release part of the oil pump, so took some metal out to clear it and resprayed that part. With it all on i modified the existing tentioner arm to remove unwanted material and sprayed that. All on it fits beautifully.

then set to work on a wire guide / guard for the alternator wires and temperature sensor wires. So i made this out of a piece of plate which keeps the wires neet and safe.

tomorrows job, finish off the wiring and start figuring out why my lambda sensors packed up!

just read the whole thing, i cant beleive you have gone through so many engines in such short space of time. what do you do for a living?

also just realised your not too far from me, im only over in doncaster, maybe see you at some shows this year then?

yer sheffields close, but the cars down in banbury at the moment. Ive been doing a number of things over the last few years, university, year working at prodrive, alot of exhibition stand work and also working on cars for people privately. Anything to get money basically! lol

Aye youll have to come and introduce urself at the shows matey! ill be at MITP, riv run, dragwars etc, drunk i expect =p
