Right, after i spent last weekend driving around i found a few things i needed to do. First of all... the battery was ruined, only lasted for 1 start ;) so i bought a new one from halfords. Also needed something to help me hear detonation when driving around mapping the thing, hear it over the throttles, wind and general racket so made some det cans:

obviously still need a T piece for them! lol

Apart from that, need a new crank pulley, mine wasnt exactly a good fit, bit of a wobble, i think its been overtightened at some point (according to lee, lol) so going to find a new one. Also, oil pressure is good when driving, 25psi when hot at idle... but for piece of mind im going to put a new pump, housing and release valve on it (full assembly jobby). Then back out driving again :P hoping to have a day off during the week to get the oil pump done! then santapod next weekend!

Cheers,

Al

too right, its what mini shows are for!

update: still creaping some ignition off the map, det cans work an absolute treat! really pleased with the results, all you can hear is combustion noise, do look like a complete retard driving along with them on though! lol

Isent that why you put the vaux in? So you can drive away looking silly but its okay because no one will see you. Thing being in the a-series is your going to still look silly, because your probably going to break down, or with the r1 you'll murder a chain.

Not a bad approach, gotta love the old skool ways!. However surely on that engine you could employ a knock sensor?

Ive been thinking of knock sensors in the a-series, some of the Miglias seem to have employed this method. But god knows how.

Timing chain rattle, rockers, and rattly drop gears.

See your selling your seats, plans a foot?

knock sensors arnt great. Theres a hole for a knock sensor obviously, and one screwed in, but unless you want to buy me a 2 hundred quid knock sensor controller it aint gonna be much use! Plus... dont really want one, best thing to detect knock is the human ear, and you can hear slight slight knock 2 degrees before you could normally with these det cans, so im pleased with the route. Unlike other det cans ive seen i quite like the route i took of passing the pipe through the bulkhead so there an almost permanent fixture, rather than putting it through the window taped up the A piller! once i get a chance to put some miles on it (after fixing a crank pully problem i have) i should have a better idea of what going on.

As for seats, want even more support for castle combe this year, thought id cash in the classics while there still in perfect nick.

May i suggest another map though, i`m sure we have all been to a mini show, then had to fill up with crap fuel on the motorway.

Magnum do decent seats for little money....But i can imagine that you've got something in mind as your selling those?

Either way ill be on the phone to them tomoro. Ill let you know prices if ya want. im looking at the pro sport range. if i remember correctly, the prices on the website from years ago were 130 pounds? for the standard width and non decorative version.....there was never a price for the side mounts however, as i remember the web page vividly.

Ill be at CC this year, car will be in perfect stand handling wise, but i do believe i will be able to push it faster.

Map wont be on the edge of advance for that reason anyway, not to worried about getting every tiny ounce of power from it, otherwise i would have balanced all of the combustion chambers, used vernier pulleys and got really *rec of the tum*.

Magnums are what i am looking at, a second hand set, i was however under the impression they no long manufacture them? If they still do a quote for two prosport seats all in black, and another quote for two professional seats that would be mint

LOL, ah well

update: Been out and put a new crank pully, refitting the cambelt, found an oil leak (oil pressure switch this time!) Then decided to address why my low pressure fuel pump wasnt filling up the swirl tank. Had a carb tank and facet pump ready to fit and then thought to myself "how much fuel have i in this?"... turns out none, and there wasnt any to pump into the swirl tank! problem solved. However trying to start it with no fuel buggered stuff up and then the plugs got soaked and now there ruined :D so a new set of plugs is needed and then i just need to go over it making sure its all ready for MOT
