Hi guys.

Would someone be able to help me out? I have somehow lost one of the ball bearings from the inner CV joint when I removed the engine & it is lost forever. I can't get just a ball bearing , I have to buy a full inner pot just to get one ball !!!! I have even tried a bearing company & they don't do one big enough!!! It looks around 10mm. Is there only one type? I can always upload a picture of the joint with the missing ball later tonight.

Would anyone happen to have an spare one lying around in their bits tray or still in an old CV joint?

Help????????????
:)

I'm pretty sure you can use a OIL PRESSURE RELIEF BALL BLS916, as an old inner CV ball bearing is what I used as for a home-made adjustable pressure relief valve and it looks the same size.... they're only 69p each from Minispares so you wouldn't loose much if it's not the right size! Unfortunately I cannot find spares from old bits.....

I tried one of those whilst I was at P&L minis. The oil pressure ball is not big enough.

Update on the ball bearing situation.

I received a couple of ball bearings from mars red mike (thanks matey) but unfortunatly they were too big. I then nipped into my local bearing company here in Doncaster & they measured the ball & said it was 17mm (they didn't have any in stock).

I then phoned around & finally found a bearing supplier in Devon that stocked a loose 17mm ball. So ordered that. When that arrived that was also too big !!!!

I then found a very handy website that stocked AF aswell as Metric loose ball bearings so a phone call to Steve at Simply Bearings was held. I sent one of my good balls to Steve & on receipt he measured the ball at 21/32 AF. Received the following day & it is now fitted. Very helpful guy & fast shipping.

What a nightmare I have had for just one little metal ball. I didn't want to buy a complete pot joint as it was in perfect condition (except the missing ball).

All sorted with a £2.50 ball.

Anyone else need any these guys are spot on.
