Tools:
Hub nut socket, probably 1 5/16" on that age of car
Ball joint splitter - the scissor type one is usually best
Various other imperial sockets & spanners
Big hammer
Torque wrench capable of 150lb/ft
You can do this without removing the driveshaft from the car but, depending on which joint comes apart easiest (inner or outer CV), it might prove easier to remove the driveshaft and take it to a vice.
Timescales - if everything goes well, about an hour. If not - god only knows!!

Ive looked in the Haynes manual and its a liitle sketchy, can the CV joint be tqken off without removing the shaft and if the shaft has to come out do I need to drain the oil?
As Im gunna be the mug on his back on the drive Id kinda like to know whats coming!!!
