Hi all,

Is there such a thing as a hidden car aerial? I don't want to drill any bodywork, and am aiming to make the radio nice and subtle.

If not, would an aerial work well enough if I mounted it hidden in the engine bay?

I think you can get internal ones that run along the roof line. Since an aerial is essentially just a long piece of wire you could mount it anywhere - no idea how well they work though!

As above, you can get ones that fix to glass. I'm not sure about internal ones that fit to metal, though. I would have thought that it would interfere with the signal?

I would be interested if their was one though - To stick under the headlining of the van!

The stick on window aerials are useless, i once had a 306 Cabriolet and someone very nicely snapped the aerial mast off it, (£180 from Peugeot atthe time!) So i put one of those ones in, the reception was rubbish., how about a normal amplified aerial but mounted inside one of the front wings? The amplifier might compensate any signal loss from it being blocked by the wing?

i have the same ariel as shown above, bought i dont have to cut my FG front bought if for £10 and havent noticed any loss in signal, it needs a live feed and an earth and all is well, put it bottom left of the screen so i could pop the earth through the air vent and earth to th BHead!

For £3.99 I might give the glass mounted aerial a try. 2.5 metres of cable isn't really long enough if I want it mounted on the rear screen out the way. Having said that I quite fancy something that can't ba seen at all, so might go down the route of mounting something inside the wing.

I've been looking for something like this, I don't want the aerial in the wing anymore, and if my front end turns out ok, I'm going to fill in the hole and spray over, for £3.99 you can't go wrong, I'm going to give it a try. I don't listen to the radio that much anyway, mostly CD's, but I do now and again .

I had the glass mount on my almera after a nice german snapped the orig, worked just the same as the orig no difference at all?

I have my internal ariel mounted underneath the top dash rail. Out of sight and suprisingly good reception!

Some nice person snapped mine in a halfords car park and I need to get a new base for it and can't be bothered to take out the headlining again.

So may buy one of these and put it behind my rear view mirror. Are they realy any good, or is it people just trying to justify their expense.

Well mine hasn't come yet some can't comment really yet , but hope it turns out good.
