I'll try rocking the car in gear & having a good look at the connections & earth wire.
thanks

remove the lead that goes to the starter from the solenoid, and place an additional earthing strap to the solenoid. take off the control wires (red/white, or green/yellow?) give them a clean and put back on. try the solenoid out (without the motor connected) and see if it sounds "healthy". if so, reconnect the starter and try again.
but i would giev your batter a quick charge, and make sure all connections to the starter are tight!

there's a little inline fuse there so I replaced it with a new 35amp one)
has anyone got a photograph of the fuse box (just to double check all the wires are going into the correct place) as I replaced a connector on one of the wires there too.

Try bridgeing the solenoid MAIN terminals out with a spanner, the engine should turn over, (make sure engine is out of gear first) if not get a test lamp and get a mate to turn key to start position, see if you have a feed to red/white wire, if so put test lamp on to main terminal (with wire to starter on it) if there is a feed on that wire as well it looks like your starter could be faulty. My 1275gt will not start,
when turning the ignition key all I get is a click sound from the solenoid.
has anyone got any idea's?

Quite right but needs to be fairly thick to carry the current the starter will draw.im sure it would be best to short out the terminals with something metal and something that has an insulated handle
