it could be a dead battery (the starter needs a lot of juice!) or the solenoid isnt grounding properly. you could also check your earthing straps!

agreeee with finch! give the battery a good charge! & check your solanoid is connected on, should be 2 small clips connected near the solanoid, give them a wobble! mine cut out once on the way to ac's, & just clicked & clicked, phoned ac & he said to go inside the bay, give the 2 push on clips a wobble & it started, haha! sorted :-

just charged the battery the other day.

I'll try rocking the car in gear & having a good look at the connections & earth wire.

thanks

Don't know if this applies to your model but there's a starter relay near the wiper motor worth checking, mine was like yours, found the wiring to the relay was shot :- worth a look

when i was converting to a preengaged to an inertia starter, i found that with the solenoid, there are 2 different clicks. there is a light click that sounst like a small relay clicking and the second is a much louder click. the quiet click is due (i think anyway) to a bad earth or low power. the louder click is the solenoid working correctly.

remove the lead that goes to the starter from the solenoid, and place an additional earthing strap to the solenoid. take off the control wires (red/white, or green/yellow?) give them a clean and put back on. try the solenoid out (without the motor connected) and see if it sounds "healthy". if so, reconnect the starter and try again.

but i would giev your batter a quick charge, and make sure all connections to the starter are tight!

hmmm, I did put a new bullet connecter onto a wire where the wiper motor wires are. pehaphs I disturbed something or the connection did'nt connect properly?

there's a little inline fuse there so I replaced it with a new 35amp one)

has anyone got a photograph of the fuse box (just to double check all the wires are going into the correct place) as I replaced a connector on one of the wires there too.

Try bridgeing the solenoid MAIN terminals out with a spanner, the engine should turn over, (make sure engine is out of gear first) if not get a test lamp and get a mate to turn key to start position, see if you have a feed to red/white wire, if so put test lamp on to main terminal (with wire to starter on it) if there is a feed on that wire as well it looks like your starter could be faulty.

im sure it would be best to short out the terminals with something metal and something that has an insulated handle >_<

Quite right but needs to be fairly thick to carry the current the starter will draw.
