Wow your interior is looking amazing! I'v just ordered a few bits from Andy including some of them dash rail covers. I cant wait for mine to arrive! How easy were they to fit anyway? I'm going to stanford so I'll keep a look out for your car their!

Thanks Leaky

They are quite easy to fit. I used spray carpet glue and you get a bit of time to reposition.

Just need to ensure the stitching is in line and then make sure there are no air bubbles or creases.

Good luck

Steve

Thats great help thanks. I was gonna replace the carpets soon as well so I'll need some of that glue anyway!

Hi Fellow TMF' ers

Been a little while since I've been on here. Hectic at work, A re-roof at my pal's dad's house and now the mother-in-law is moving ! Oh, went on holiday as well. Even saw a mini undergoing renovation in sunny Tunisia. Anyone on here? :)

Still, managed to get a little bit of time on the mini and finally made the purchase I knew I wanted, but had been putting off for a while due to cost.

Got the new stereo fully fitted and after a bit of head scratching, got the front speakers in.

Take a look, let me know what you think.

Some pods from Andy at Optimise. I had to trim the inner to make some room for the contact board on the back of the speaker.

Posted Image

You should know me and my LED's by now..... The pods would cover some of what was in already so another minor modification.

Posted Image

Finished result. Looks a lot neater than I expected. Wasn't originally a fan of the pods but they do fit in quite well.

Posted Image

Couldn't find a matching set of front speakers (same as the back) with just single cones (JBL discontinued), but wanted the tweeters higher up. So I bought a pair of small tweeters and did a small mod on the wiring so that instead of the ones in the main speaker, the crossover now drives the ones in the dash panel.

Quite effective. You can certainly notice the difference if you cover them up, although it's never going to win any prizes

Posted Image

And the purchase I put off for a while? I have to admit to loving quality engineering and these are absolutely superb. My advice is if you can afford them, go for it, you won't be dissapointed.

Posted Image

That's about it for now but I have got a couple of other small things on the go, including tidying up the boot and as winter is now here and I need to move inside. Well, there's that 1275 engine sat looking sorry for itself.

Thanks for stopping by

Regards

Steve

Great as ever Steve! The speakers really suit and look like they belong there, nice work fitting them. I wish I could get some front pods like that in my MPi!

Hi Steve,

how have you attached the pods to the panels, screws through or a more rust safe method??

Hi Graham

After much head scratching, and deciding that the method described by Optimise was never going to work for me, I thought, be brave and I drilled 2 holes through the inner wing. Filled the screws & holes full of grease so, finger crossed!

Steve

You could use stainless screws & have the head on the outside then just seam seal & waxoyl over top of it.

Thanks for the comment Peter.

Just a very quick update.

Remember on the last post I said I had a development on the colour?

Well, I originally wanted orange with a black roof but there seems to be quite a few about at the moment (nothing wrong with that) so I started looking for alternatives.

I looked through the original mini colours and saw the Surf Blue and although listed for very late cars saw it was also available in the late 60's. And, given that I have gone back to 10's with some group 2 arches I thought this may be a good option.

So whilst I was at my friendly paint shop I asked him to mix me some up and as I was off work, I had a play about.

Here's just a glimpse.......

Posted Image

That was the dream.

Here's the reality....

Posted Image

Still, it gives me an idea of what is hopefully in store a little way down the line. Quite a bit if work to do before I get the finished coat on though.

That's all for this one

Catch you all soon

Regards

Steve

Hi there,

Really like those arches. Whilst I look through the rest of the thread. Can i ask where you got them from and how much they stick out at the top (centre). I like the rears, wrapping round past the seam. Also are your wheels 10 x 6's ?

Cheers

Hello, great mini, alot of attention to detail. can I ask what you wired the facet fuel pump into? I see you've used a relay. Thanks.
