I posted that it lives! but there was a bit more work I had to do before hand.
The carb needed a strip and clean

Must remember to put the wifes's toothbrush back LOL!

Looking a bit better after a wash

Did the same with the dizzy

One thing I am finding is that as I add more bits back on, they conflict with some of the work I did earlier.
Had to re arrange the wiring around the distributor as it was a bit tight.

New inlet manifold meant I had to re route & tie up the speedo cable & fuel pipe & twist around a water pipe to miss the edge of the exhaust

Exhaust arrived on time as promised

Fitted perfectly

Also in the box, following numerous complaints

Please don't mention the air filter, long story, - mistake!
Next time I'll consult the supervisor first..

Chuffed that it fired first time. Tweaked the timing a touch once running, with a timing lamp.
Once I was happy with the running, I drained the coolant, flushed out, added some coolant cleaner then drained, flushed again before topping up with 50/50 antifreeze.
I can't get over how quiet the engine is. I seem to remember it tapping & rattling away when I first got it. Maybe all the settings were out.
Even the LED ignition light worked following some early advice from Ethel & DK Lawson regarding the fitting of a power resistor

I picked up the interior I won on fleabay.

Not great........but, full set of seats, door cards, dash rails for £25, I can't complain as they will serve the purpose for a little while.
Have since had them cleaned and they look a lot better
Anyone any suggestions on the mixture setting as I can't drive it prior to the MOT and suspect it may be running a bit rich?
I also received another parcel this week which I'll tell you about later.....
If anyone's up for a guessing game, it was inspired by Luna Mini, (Thanks Luna) Answers on a post (card)!

Oh, and suggestions for the grille would be welcomed as well. I have a couple of ideas, one involves a cad drawing & a laser cutter but...........?
Off out to do a bit more now whilst the weathers good, catch you later
Thanks for looking
Steve

Really coming along now, you must be proper chuffed.

I think a Morris grille would go better with the bumperless look, cleaner lines. Minispare3s have some funky anodised ones.
You might also want to spin your exhaust clamps round if you're remotely likely to encounter any speed bumps.

Thank you all once again for the kind comments, it does feel good to be nearly there.
I have to confess to taking the mini out for a quick spin today. Only round the block, about 500 yards just to check all gears, brakes worked etc,
The car is insured now, but didn't want the first run to be the one to the MOT station. (Hoping to do that when I'm back of holiday next Thursday / Friday)
Ethel: I am possibly along the lines of the MK1 grille, maybe with a moustache but I also have to accomodate some spotlamp brackets as well. Still thinking along the lines of custom laser cut one but not something I need to rush in to.
Thanks for the heads up on the clamps. I have spun the centre one round whilst the 2 at the rear are above the lowest point of the silencer. The fronts are welded to the LCB by Maniflow so can't do much with those.
Minimininut: Give that guy a coconut!!! Did you check out the clue or am I just, (as my wife often says), tooooo predictable.
Sent my old belts off for re webbing and look what came back.

Mega chuffed with them. I even got a call to ask what colour stitching I wanted! Sent them on the Thursday and I had them back Monday - Outstanding service!
I'll put their details on the recommended dealer/supplier thread
But...................
There's always a but....................
Classic schoolboy error! Didn't check the length of the new bolts they sent me

I would say the air was around the same colour as the car! But. a bit of work with the hammer and a punch and some paint building with a touch up brush and it's getting there. Hopefully I can get it so you can't tell.
Maybe, just maybe, the next update will be to say it has passed the MOT and is fully legal.
Thanks for stopping by
Regards
Steve
