Afternoon ladies & gents. How formal does that sound? Ah well...........

Bean, thanks for the comments. Bit like a house, only cheaper!!! (sometimes)!!

James. Yes the colour is Surf Blue.

Bit more painting done in preparation for the long easter weekend event.

Did the backs of the doors and the engine bay along with the hinges. (Boot hinges were chrome but a bit rough so now painted)

I'll let the pictures do the talking..........................

Don't look half bad even if I do say so myself.

Oh by the way......... Almost forgot..............

The roof.............................

Now why is it that you only spot the dent after you put the topcoat on? Bu@%er!! Probably can't spot it on the photo but it's above the passenger door. I think it's from one of the tyres when we had the car turned over on the spit. Not huge but I know it's there.

Never mind. In the words of the great Blackadder................... I have a cunning plan!

That's all for this one. Back to work tomorrow to pay for it all but only a 4 days and then hopefully, final paint.

Thanks for looking

Best regards

Steve

Hi everyone

Thanks again for all the kind comments.

Just a very quick update with some pictures of the journey to the paint.

My pal "forgot" to mention that the trailer he borrowed was about 2 feet off the floor!!

Still, could have been worse, could have had the engine in. :tumble:

Next update on the painting ........................

After spending a couple of hours covering up anything that would get affected by paint dust we set about masking all the openings.

Now here's a bit of encouragement for you... The lad in the picture is James, my pals son. He was 16 earlier this week and has never weilded a spray gun in anger before. After a few minutes tuition he was a natural.

Just goes to show. Don't be afraid....... Give it a go!!

At the end of quite a long day.............................. Success.

Nice work Steve, just one thing though.......

Couldn't you have got a gun with a bigger paint pot?

Thats gonna cause you no end of hassle on the top coat.

Hi Shifty

I've got a full size suction gun with a 1ltr paint pot well. I bought the little one for a few quid to do the engine bay etc as it's much easier to get into all the corners. It's a cracking bit of kit and very accurate with little overspray but the 100ml pot is a pain.

Once we had done all the nooks and crannys and an initial coat, the big gun came out to get plenty of paint on.
