hi today i put the doors on and the boot on paint work is ok but not as good as the car but will be flatting it soonish. also put the rear 2 arches on too a long time and also fitter the number plate light on the rear and my dad put in the rear window filler strip. i was intending to replace the front shock mount but the 1st bolt i did sheared off so gotta get 8 new bolts and a tap i recon

right today i got the shock mounts off luckly i managed to get 3 bolts out on the passenger side then one snapped the drivers side all 4 snapped i will need to drill them out tomorrow then re tap fingercrossed it goes ok. at good job i did take te old shocj mount of it had a big hole it in luckly it didnt go through the other side

Whats happened is the shock mount and the 2 or 3 layers of metal behind that make up the end of the crossmember have rotted out, not uncommon and an mot fail. But what someone has done is just plate over it and refit the rotten/weaker old original damper bracket.

well today i had a good day i managed to drill out the front shock mounts and i retapped them luckly.they are all on now but i have come across another problem the front bumper is too long on the drivers side i will have to get if off the car and cut it down. also i am struggling to get the door glass in then i can build the doors up but i wont be able to do much as i am going away for 11days

hi sorry havnt posted anything i have been away but anyway i have now finished putting the car back together very pleased with it.i will post pics over the weekend. also it has got its MoT tomorrow morning i hope it passes it should then i will be going to mitp on sunday cant wait

quick tip though, paint that shock mount as even though its been treated it would still rust eventually

hi well i have some bad and some good news. the mini went in for its mot on friday morning and guess what it failed not major things really it failed on the offside lower ball joint had play the emmissions were too high the nearside head lamp was too high, it didnt have a fog light oopppss. and lastly the out boot for cv the clip was missing. lucky my local mini garage fitted me in friday afternoon and did all the work for a very good price of £58 for the lot parts and labour. so i booked in for a retest this moring and it passed and also it is now taxed for 12months and my dad has 2 day insurance for the weekend so we are going to mitp yay!!! im so pleased also on how the car runs. the tracking is a mile out but for now it will do when i start to drive it i will get it done.
