Ant, I am not doubting in the slightest that Morspeed ARE capable of building extremely high quality engines, the race results clearly prove this. I'm sure an engine built for youself will have the highest level of care and attention to detail, being your own.

What I'm saying is, in the case of the engine Oli's family were supplied, morspeed did NOT build a good engine. The engine supplied was simply not fit for purpose, and did not match the specification of that which was ordered by the late Oli Lewis.

This is not my opinion either, this is the opinion of an independant report from another mini specialist.

Whether im building an engine for myself or a customer or my worst enemy, there is no difference in care or quality of work. I love what i do, its not just my job its my passion. And i try my very hardest and work to the very best of my ability with any engine i work on. Nomatter the spec or the customer. Hence why i get upset when people question our work.

As far as Olis engine goes i didnt really have anything to do with the build myself but trust me Simon is just as passionate about his job and i can say im 110% sure he wouldnt have let that engine leave the premesis if he had the slightest doubt it was not fit for purpose.

If you are sure of your above statement why was it said "that the unit that was built not built to the required spec and fit for purpose".
The company name has such a bad reputation on forums now and to me as a outsider this could have been put right so very easy.
Customer satisfaction must surely be the top priority for any company and if the staff levels are to low to turn out the required work a company must surely employ more staff or turn work down.
Lets face it all people want is a product made/supplied to a agreed cost within a agreed time scale and to the specification asked for, are these not simple requirements for any customer and company.
I personally have nothing against Morspeed as I have never used them, but would I now use them ? maybe we will never know.
I wish you all luck in sorting this situation out in a manner that suits all parties involved.

I regularly read posts like this but very rarely join in, being content to read and learn, but for once I feel obliged to contribute.

Times have changed for companies in the way they trade and the way they have to deal with their customers and they need to recognise this change. Fifteen, or even ten years ago if a customer had a problem with a company there was very little they could do to express their dis-satification and advise others of the situation. Information, good or bad, was predominately spread by word of mouth, greatly limiting the ability of any one person to express their annoyance and inform others. However, with the massive growth of the internet and on-line communities a person can relate their experience to thousands of people in a few days, and on a forum such as TMF these are all Mini fans.

In the case of Morspeed and all Mini related companies TMF and other online Mini forums are a 100% targeted market. We are their customer base and therefore their livelihood. In the past companies would pay good money for a list of thousands of potential customers, but now these people can be informed and contacted free of charge through the club website. You just have think for a moment to realise that this truly is a dream come true, thousands of potential customers all on one website, and all you have to do is treat them fairly. Not perfectly every time, because we're all human, not absolutely spectacularly brilliantly well, just..............fairly. Years ago a customer who had a problem said to me ‘Don’t worry about the mistake, we all make them, it’s how your company fixes the problem that tells me everything I need to know’. I remembered that advise because it's so simple and so true.

If a business wants to survive they need to do their utmost to present a professional front, and these days that includes the internet. Simon from MiniSpares is a perfect example of how a company should act these days and consequently MiniSpares has an enviable reputation here on TMF.

Of course, the down side of this ability to communicate freely is that bad news travels fast. With a whole topic removed I can find out very little as to what happened between Stewart GT and Morspeed. I only know that he had a problem with their service, has complained, posted his story and consequently recieved a solicitors letter threatening County Court proceedings. If the topic had been left for all to read we could have made our own judgements, but with it removed (at Morspeeds insistence) I only have this topic to inform me, and at the moment it's not looking good for Morspeed.

Read into it what you will. All i will say is we have built more k conversion engines than anyone by far and not 1 problem. Did you see the 5 trophy winning and 8 year old record breaking hillclimb car with our twincam in last season by any chance? You should go see it and the other three that have just joined him with our engines this season. Infact there so good im just building myself one for my road car atm, ill let you know of any problems with my 'joke of an engine'.

My wise marketing lecturer always told me....on average, if you have a good experience with a company you will tell 2 people.....if you have a bad experience, you will tell 10!!

Ant - I don't know why you've made the comment about the forum's administrators. TMF is here as a base for all Mini owners to express their opinions. The views posted on here are of the POSTER only - There are disclaimers on the forum stating this very reason. Whilst TMF staff try their utmost to remove personal and offensive posts, TMF cannot be held responsible for the content and opinions of members.

I, personally, think the TMF staff and administrators have been very good to Morspeed in doing everything that is required of them.

On a personal note (And this has nothing to do with TMF as a whole!) - I am hugely unimpressed with the way Morspeed carry out their practice. I have first-hand experience of the customer service of the company and I think it's utterly appauling.

It took over 8 months to get my boyfriend's engine back from you. Even then, there were hugely important parts missing and we had to source other major parts elsewhere. We ended up just getting a refund as we didn't want to wait any longer.

We were promised, countless times, that items were in the post and on their way. They never arrived. And when we took trips to check, they said that they hadn't even got the items back from the "welder". Another time, we were told that everything had been sent and that he'd sent them to the wrong address!

The phone is never answered and they keep absolutely no record of what you've ordered/asked for.

There's a simple way of avoiding this sort of confrontation and ensuring that the Morspeed name doesn't get slated ... and that's to actually deliver what's been promised - Or at least to have some sort of sincerity when things go wrong (Which, inevitably, happens to everyone).

just to add if we had all bought parts from different suppliers i.e Minisport, minspares swiftune and various people had bad experiences or problems would we surely not be able to use the forum process to voice concerns to other mini members to avoid or make aware of problems or do we continue to let everybody else gett ripped off,
quote the morspeed guy

"We are in a credit crunch hard financial times"
yeah mate we are so give the guy his money back hes now out of pocket and got to start again, sounds to me like you have had lots of complaints against you and dont fair that well amongst people, again i have no dealings with you and hope the problem can be resolved as i personally have been on the end of bad workmanship (no referal to morspped at all general comment) and its horrible trust me it cost me £2000 and county court couldnt even do anything for me

mspd_ant:

Your behaviour and reduction to childlike arguing only further tarnishes your reputation.

If there are currently legal proceedings underway how would your solicitor feel about you arguing the toss on here, when they're trying to shut down any topic that speaks ill of Morspeed?

PS. mspd_ant, you seem like you have your head screwed on and I respect you for defending Morespeed.

More pointless posts removed. If all you've got to say on the matter is 'fail' then don't say anything.
