A friend has a 205 CTi and it wont start. Her husband has been away for 6 months and it is during this time it has stopped working.
It turns over and there is a spark so I'm thinking the problem is fuelling. I cannot hear a hissing anywhere - I was guessing its most likely the fuel pump?
The thing is, will a fuel pump stop working due to be left for that time? Apparently it was working fine before he left..
Any advice appreciated..

Hi there,
Try this site: http://forum.205gtid...dex.php?act=idx They should be able to help if the search doesn't bring an answer up.
If it's an electric fuel pump, have you tried swapping the fuse just in case? 205s are a sod for bad earth connections - they could almost be Lucas wired!

Before you bother with that, put a couple of gallons of clean petrol in it. Fuel starts to detiorate after as 2 weeks, so after 6 months it hardly surprising it wont start!

I would suggest that its the fuel pump relay. They are famously unreliable, I have had 4 205 gti 1.9s and 3 of them have had the same problem, they will turn over but will not fire.
