£30 is a bargain, and its good enough to learn with, it should do body work no problem

Mine cost over £100 off ebay so that is a bargain. It should be fine for anything you need to weld on a mini as mine has worked a treat for all the bodywork on my ADO16.

£30 is cheap. Harder to learn on than a Clarke welder, but for that price you can't really go wrong.

Someone asked this a few days ago....

And as I said there,...
As a beginner, you should avoid SIP /Cosmo welders. They are badly designed and all have some serious flaws in the wire feed system. They are not bad welders, but you are constantly having to fight against the machines weaknesses as well as concentrating on your welding. A better machine from Clarke or Sealey performs as it should and allows you to concentrate 100% on your welding.
I am on my second SIP as I get them dirt cheap. Have a read of these post I made on mig-welding.co.uk before deciding.

Also, why is it so cheap? Does it work at all? are the electronics ok? is the drive motor on its way out? No point buying it for £30 if you have to spend another £80 on parts to get it halfway decent.

Yeah the Cosmo 200amp (B and Q special) MIG I bought welds great. but the wire feed mechanism is made of toffee and is gradually causing more problems each time I use it.
If yours is £30 and works then you cant go too wrong get him to show you how to use it
as a check.
For seldom use mine would have probably lasted longer but I have hammered it with two car re-builds
I will look at a Clarke/Sealy next time
