SIP do have a bit of a poor reputation for wire feed problems, these can be sorted.

However if it were my money I'd buy this

I'd be looking at a clarke rather than an SIP, I know a lot more satisfied Clarke owners than SIP owners!!

Have a dig around fleabay something will turn up.

I've had a SIP migmate 130 for about 4 years now. They do seem to slap the liner in them at the factory and you need to adjust it a bit to work properly. Took about 10 mins to get it lined up properly and running well.

Go on www.mig-welding.co.uk and have a look at the reviews, maybe join up and talk to weldequip.

As a beginner, you should avoid SIP /Cosmo welders. They are badly designed and all have some serious flaws in the wire feed system. They are not bad welders, but you are constantly having to fight against the machines weaknesses as well as concentrating on your welding. A better machine from Clarke or Sealey performs as it should and allows you to concentrate 100% on your welding.

I am on my second SIP as I get them dirt cheap. Have a read of these post I made on mig-welding.co.uk before deciding.

Dont buy an SIP we are a distributor for them in the Derby area and are about to cut ties with them there customer service is TERRIBLE and as already said they are not the easiest of welders to learn with. However i can recommend the Clarke welders from machine mart

Strongly recommend you do this, top bloke and excellent aftersales/support plus you'll get a good deal. You could also buy a Clarke from machinemart.co.uk - sign up with them and they have occasional VAT free days.
