Decided to get a new backplate for the rear brakes on the drivers side and a new cylinder too - seems easier than tarting up rusty bits

I have one in storage, but its got surface rust due to it not having any coating. Although Por-15/Rustoleum will probably cure this .

** Drivers side Drive shaft stripped.
** Hub cleaned and painted.
** Disc refaced and painted drive flange.
** Stone guard cleaned + painted.
** New CV boot (all need replacing)
Going to nip down to Halfords tomorrow and get some new Pads, The ball joints aren't looking to happy but i think they'll be okay with a Thick shim removed and a thin one put in. They were so loose that i undid them with mole grips!
Talk tomorrow!

And cut out the offending section of shock mount - nearly gave up when i opened it up to see Rust inside:lol:, but luckily it's just crusty surface rust and will clean up just fine

Roll pins were a different matter - What a pain! they're both in now but boy! did they take some hammering in!! Seems all the hard work is getting it going and then they'll suddenly fly in.
good news is - They're on now and I could finally find out if i had all gears selectable - which i do! The change feels quite tight too which makes a nice change from the sloppiness we're used to!
Rest of the day will be spent under sealing after I've grabbed some luncheon!
Good times, And first Startup is looming

Liberated the correct colour wires from an old loom (apart from the yellow - this is to replace the yellow and white wires used for the ballast ignition) and Tinned the bare ends ready for soldering - also swapped the large Spade crimp from the brown inertia loom and re-crimped it onto the red/white for the piggyback solenoid. there's a few more browns i haven't pictured The blue/brown Is also on the ring crimp but is hiding behind the brown in the picture!
I will be soldering it up to the main loom tomorrow, and heat shrinking the joints.
Hopefully picking up my HS4 carb next week that's had the 'Vizard' modifications done to it.
