Try the AAU if you already have one, you can always reprofile it as it will have flat spots and will run very lean.
The red spring is a bit stiffer, espescially compared to the standard one which tend to became crap when old, so worth replace it with a brand new spring.
You can even try the blue one on the HS4 modded to ST spec, but at a guess it will be too light for your spec, personally i'd fit the red one.

So we popped it onto the miler and started to trim it down, about half of the thickness has been taken out, this will leave enough clearance for the throttle shaft to open fully:
There were also a lot of casting imperfections on the inside of the spacer - including a large step right the way round where the casting moulds would have met each other - this was smoothed out completely along with the mating surfaces to ensure the inlet tract is as good as it can be, and certainly better than standard:
The finished item, smoothed and stamped:
Now i can finally get round to bolting the carb on
I've also acquired a K&N air filter for the standard air box - so i get the best flowing filter but without the noise of an open 'cone' type.
Bolted the Link pipe on yesterday and will be getting some Exhaust hangers and brackets next week to finish the isntallations of the RC40 Twin box system.

is it possible to convert a normal dashboard type dash to a type like yours
Certainly is - you'll need a conversion loom (or build your own from looking at the thread in the FAQ about this conversion) and the necessary clocks etc....
I like this project, nice, simple, and retro!
Thanks, that's the plan

Carb is now on and all linkages are connected up - all seems to work smoothly and plenty of room for the Jet to lower. Need to put some 3-1 oil on the springs etc...
And yesterday I once again called on a good friend on here to help me out, Took delivery of this K&N replacement Element for the standard airbox, flows better than the Cone filter types and is of course, a lot less noisy!
That's everything to do with the Inlet tract finished. Now i just need to get the hangers for the rear section of the New exhaust, some Oil, some petrol, Adjust the valve clearances up - and then We'll see if all this effort has been worth it.

Is this just a standard 998 other than the carb mod.
read the thread you lazy beggar!
It's got an worked Alloy inlet, 1.7/8" RC40 Twin box exhaust system, Cooper Freeflow Manifold, David Vizard Spec HS4, K&N air filter element inside a Vizard Spec Airbox, Worked Carb Elbow and Worked spacer.
Valves have had an extra 30 degree angle cut onto them to Create a better seal, and increase flow
So it's Basically an expensive stage 1 kit, Plus a bit extra

I love all the airflow work dude. I'm definitely gunna have to bust out the Dremel and try it on mine when I get around to the engine.
Thanks for bumping this MiniLandy.
No worries!
Are you the same Tupers that used to frequent the Rockrc/UKRCRC boards?? I think you said you had a 2000 Cooper Sport...

I have been away for a while, but next week (or maybe the end of this week) will see work start up again on the mini - I have a very large trip planned in it for the summer So.... Progress is needed. The engine needs to be started and checked over (yet to know if it runs but looks good) front brakes need re-attaching, exhaust needs hanging and the interior needs carpet.
Still got a few little tricks up my sleeve to make this little car stand out about from the others but the details of which i shall leave a secret until I have progress up and running.
