I want to know how the MOT test orange meter works?
my mini indicators were more orange than the ones on the volvo but the mini failed and the volvo passed :D

Examiners discretion. If it shows white light from anywhere, it will fail. Mini indicators stick out at the front. Volvo ones are deep in the lights, with a reflective backing to project the indicator light.

I also think it helps if you get on well with your garage. I did my work experance at my local garage so I got to know them well then. My dad also takes his renualt their for its MOT and its repaires and the guy who does the MOTs has owned about 6 minis in his time. I wouldnt even think about going to anouther garage. I know some garages can be b*****d's but you just need to find someone you can trust and I know thats hard these days.

I know how you feel Lewis, mine failed a couple of years ago and a few things (mainly the rear subframe) and I had the choice of a £800 bill to put it right or sell it.

I chose the first option as I elt it was worth it and it was, I got the subframe my self (a geniune one) and painted it in about 6 layers of hamerite paint lol.

Hope you find a buyer.

Rich

I've stuck a reserve of £250 which i think is reasonable. Let's see how it goes. Something tells me im gonna pull the plug on the auction a minute before its due to finish!!

my mate took his car to kwick fit for an mot and it failed, he was unsure so he took it to a local MOT station and it passed fine! I think some people are just looking for work or can be having a bad day and take it out on others. Not saying yours shouldnt have failed, but a 2nd opinion wouldnt hurt would it. Especialy for the sake of £40!!

Don't almost all modern cars show white?

Maybe its just me, but I find all modern clear indicators utterly hopeless.

Im a stickler for going with your gut feeling!

I'd get a second opinion before actually selling it!

Get yourself another opinion.

best thing to do is get your self down to the local mini or classic car club, the chances are atleast one member will be mates with or a friend of a friend with a MOT tester and could help you out.
