No I'm sticking with exactly the same turbo as the gearbox is now the weakest link at pushing 400bhp.
However unless anyone has a bucket load of cash or a spare quaife sequential gearbox they can give me, I will be sticking with the same turbo.
Otherwise if did my engine would look like this:

Was nice to meet you at the show. Shame about the turbo though! Cant wait to see it all up and running again, the whole car really is alot bigger than i imagined!

Hmmm I've stumbled over some nos! It's tempting to fit it...

I was abit bored so I decided to sort out my front diff seal, the only one I didn't replace in the rebuild!
The steering rack had to come out, which meant the engine cradle had to come out, just to wiggle the front diff out. If ford just left a couple more centre-meters clearance the job would take 30mins instead of 3hrs!

All this to get at the little black seal on the right!

Yeah it's all back together now and I did take it out for a blast..... It was nice!
Although I was going to go to the mini show on Sunday gone but forgot it was on!
I suspect with winter coming in, the next appearance the car will make will be in the new year.

I have just spent the last weeks evenings looking at every page (reads "reading it word for word") and what I can say is well done chap!!! It takes a 5h1t load of determination to not give up at all the herdels along the way.
I am just embarking on a resto and the determination is still high buts its basic compared to this.
I know of a firm locally who have, for a wealthy client, removed every part, excluding the body from a 13 plate tt rs and shoehorned it into a skoda yeti for a track weapon and it's an animal excusing the pun.
I will be at some shows next year and hope to come and see the beast you have created, and your good self also.

Well done and best of luck for the year ahead with the cosmini.

Hi all,
I know I haven't updated this thread in a while, but not much has happened in the last 6-9months.
However at the weekend I did dust the mini off and go drag racing at Santa Pod.
It made for an interesting weekend with some highlights being, getting quicker throughout the weekend, upsetting some ford boys, melting the drag strip with my launch control and plans now for running quicker for mini in the park..

As videos speak a thousand words, I will upload them once they are sorted.

Here's one of the runs showing the experimenting with the launch control and boost building on the start line.

I have a fair few videos of in car footage thanks to my mates go pro but my best run of the weekend was 12.25s for the quarter mile.
Pretty respectable when last year my best time was 13.22s
It just goes to show how crap the old turbo was as nothing else has changed - oh apart from the launch control that builds 1bar of boost while stationary!
Time to shed some weight, rip out the passenger seat and take a hole cutter to everything.
Bring on 11s

Ironically the best time video was the same one as the Marshall having words with me about burning a hole on the track.

If you want any more vids just holler!

So I got home today after a long day and thought I would follow your advice geachy.
I started it in gear and it jumped forward.... No such luck.
.......
The pedal gradually went further and further to the floor.
I pumped it a couple of times and this is the result
Geachy - if your ever at a show and you see the car, come over and say hello and I will buy you a pint!

Right - I've booked my tickets for Mini in the Park.
Roll on the weight reduction

Geachy - if your at the show pop by and say hello.
I'll be the one with a wide white mini queuing up to go down the strip

Just make sure you go on the Saturday for your runs.

On Sunday it's £20 for 4 runs! X

Ignore that - it's back to £25 for unlimited runs 😀
