Epic brake fail!
These are the rear brakes and despite being assured they fit, they don't.
I do concede that the rear cosworth brakes are quite large and vented but I thought they might have squeezed in.
If anyone has any experiences with fitting brakes under 13" wheels then please feel free to contribute.
I phoned up a well respected brake manufacturer and I literally got laughed at. They said that they wouldn't be able to help me!

When my old man fitted an atlas rear axle to his dolomite sprint in the late 80's, he used ford calipers of some nature, but had to grind a wad out of the caliper and could only run half worn pads.. He ran the original 13inch sprint wheels though!
Oh, don't do that!!!
Calipers are a certain thickness for a very important reason!

It's a forest rally car and never had a problem!

As for brakes, are you wanting to use OEM brakes or are you happy to go after market? Wilwood do a massive selection of calipers,
but they would more than likely require custom carriers. Owens fabrication do a Wilwood conversion kit to fit under 13" wheels, but that setup would probably be too much for the rear, but they may have some suggestions of a rear conversion too?

The only trouble being if I go too small with oem I think I will just fry them.
I'll check out Owen fabrication, cheers. I don't mind spending the extra if I know that they will work.

how about sum wheel spacers,,might make your wheels stick out a bit tho,,,,,

Well the rims are already 2 foot wider than the body so I guess another 10mm won't make much difference.

Hard to tell from the photo how much extra clearance you need, moving the wheel weights could be a start. If it's only a couple of mm I'd say grind the calipers, but anything more than that is a bit risky.
Aftermarket calipers would be the ideal, and going slightly smaller won't cause you any problems as the car is already significantly lighter than the standard Ford.

Custom setup I think, as the sierra cosworth hubs have different caliper mounts (90mm spacing) to that of standard sierras!

I use the unvented 253mm disc and calipers from the sierra disk braked model, under 13" minator wheels and they fit nicely. I would be surprised if the hub disk brake carriers were different between sierra cosworth and the normal disk braked sierra. I'm refering to the hub carriers and not the vented brake discs and calipers.
According to this post it a nut and bolt upgrade to use the vented disc setup on a solid disc sierra and therefore it follows you can do the reverse

I'm sure you can fit 13"s over the standard discs are fitted to the last sierras.
They are different sizes depending on the model, the sierra cosworth has the biggest sierra brakes off them all
