The battery power is now ruled out of the equation.
It must be something not quite set up right. So the plan is to test all engine sensors, recap on all the timing settings on the engine to make sure everything is good and then start panicking.
Theres spark to the plugs (although not that great) which in theory rules out the coil, ignition amplifiers, ht leads. It also turns over at high speed with no plugs in.
So first on the list is the timing on the phase sensor in the distributor, but if it was slightly out, it should fire but just cough and splutter.
Research is required and then a day of nice weather should get it working.
I also have some ecu software that I want to get working (cant remember the damn password) as that will confirm all the sensors are working at once and should help to pin point the problem
Anyhow ive been youtube uploading and have attached some clips for you all. (none from today as no real progress was made)
Attempted start 2
Attempted start 3
Attempted start 4 - and listen closely the engine swallows what sounds like a small dog!

Take it to your nearest Ford approved garage
Only joking of course, keep at it, I guess that's the problems with complicated engines they're complicated when they go wrong. Can't wait to see a video of it running.

If the spark isn't good, it won't run. You're unlikely to have four faulty HT leads, but what're the chances of coil failing?
Go through and methodically check everything that's changed since it was running in the donor car, last push now.

It could just be dry bores?? Try pouring a little fuel down the carb throat??

I could say, it was working one day and it's just refusing to start.... then just see what he says! Lol

Right so I was reading up on what some of the solutions could be to my problems. I wanted to double check the timing and confirmed that everything was fine
Piston 1 at TDC
Crank marked up with timing mark at TDC
Rota arm pointing to the tiny mark roughly at 2pm on the dizzy casing
Cams facing eachother
So I was reading up on sensors and noticed that my crank positioning sensor was slightly too close to the crank lugs and that the phase sensor in the dizzy was slightly too far away. So I adjusted those and got them to 0.6mm and 0.24mm respectively.
Still it didnt fire but it did start to turn over more freely.
However I was reading up on HT leads and the cosworth fitted with wasted spark and it stated that if it pops and bangs its likely to be the leads 1+4 and 2+3 on the wrong side of the coil pack.
I was also reading up on ignition amplifiers and remembered that I was using a 2nd hand one.
So I thought I would did out the coil pack instructions and sure enough i had connected them the right way round
but because it popping and banging i thought i would swap them the other way around so instead of 1+4 and 2+3, they would be 2+3 and 1+4
Low and behold this is what happens...........

Yippy!!!
So are you happy with the setup now then ? or has this just ruled things out ?
Next up rolling road ?
